Even though Venom: The Last Dance will be the final movie for Eddie Brock and Venom in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, there’s still a way the alien symbiote can join the MCU, according to a wild new Marvel theory. The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released in June 2024, teasing a dramatic ending for Eddie Brock and Venom in the SSU, as they will be pitted against human villains and other entities from Venom’s homeworld. Since Venom is the most popular aspect of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, however, it would be a mistake to remove him completely.

Venom: The Last Dance, scheduled to release on October 25, 2024, will mark the end of Tom Hardy’s trilogy as the SSU’s Lethal Protector, following his adventures in 2018’s Venom and 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding Venom: The Last Dance, particularly after Venom’s appearance in the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s post-credits scene. However, the first trailer for the upcoming SSU movie seems to revisit this moment from No Way Home, raising questions as to the true nature of an as-yet-undisclosed villain in Venom: The Last Dance.

Venom Is Killed By Knull In Human Form In Venom: The Last Dance: Theory Explained

Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Venom: The Last Dance Character Hasn’t Yet Been Confirmed

Chiwetel Ejiofor joined the cast of Venom: The Last Dance in May 2023 in an undisclosed villain role, though there has been speculation that he could be playing Orwell Taylor. Taylor has a vendetta against Venom in Marvel Comics after the Lethal Protector killed his son, so there is some substance to this claim. However, a new theory posed by Austin Medeiros suggests that Ejiofor could have a much more pivotal role in Venom: The Last Dance, as the theory posits he could be the human form of Knull, the creator of the symbiotes in Marvel Comics.

Medeiros suggests that Knull may have traveled to Earth to hunt down symbiotes who defected from the Hive-Mind connecting the species, including Venom. Venom: The Last Dance’s trailer shows Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character capturing various symbiotes, some of which reside in tanks, while another he seems to collect from the Mexican bar from Spider-Man: No Way Home. As the symbiotes’ creator, Knull would be a villain far too powerful for Eddie Brock and Venom to defeat, so their battle could culminate in Venom’s death in the SSU, but Medeiros poses the perfect explanation for Venom’s relocation into the MCU.

Venom Could Join The MCU After His Death In The SSU

Venom Made A Cameo Appearance In The MCU In 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Eddie Brock and Venom were returned to the SSU after spending some time in the MCU, but a piece of the alien symbiote was left behind. There has been a great deal of speculation about what will come of this piece of the Venom symbiote, with many believing it will have a huge role to play in Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man trilogy. This could still happen after Venom’s potential death at the hands of Knull in Venom: The Last Dance, as Medeiros suggests the Lethal Protector could transfer his consciousness across realities.

If Venom transfers his consciousness from his body in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe into the piece of him left behind in the MCU in Venom: The Last Dance, he would be given the opportunity to search for a new host. While bidding farewell to Eddie Brock would surely be emotional, this theory provides a clear explanation for how Venom can join the MCU permanently. Of course, this doesn’t mean Knull’s hunt for defectors from the Hive-Mind would be over, so this could also set up some major storylines for Spider-Man’s future in the MCU.

Venom: The Last Dance Theory Sets Up A Great Multiverse Story For Spider-Man’s MCU Future

Marvel Studios & Sony Are Developing New Spider-Man Stories To Be Set In The MCU

Peter Parker on the Statue of Liberty in Spider-Man No Way Home

Some time ago, there was speculation of a dispute between Marvel Studios and Sony about what would be the story for the MCU’s upcoming Spider-Man 4. After the massive multiversal storyline of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man 4 could have continued this trend, or taken Peter Parker back to basics in a street-level story. While it may make more sense for Spider-Man 4 to deal with a lower-stakes adventure for the now-anonymous Spider-Man, his future MCU movies could explore the multiverse once again, and Knull’s debut in Venom: The Last Dance makes this even more likely.

If Knull’s mission is to hunt defectors from the Symbiote Hive-Mind, his search for Venom would continue after the symbiote transfers his consciousness from the SSU into the MCU in Venom: The Last Dance. This could bring Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Knull into the MCU proper, traveling across universes to try and hunt down Venom. By this time, it’s possible that Spider-Man himself could be the host of the alien symbiote, setting up an epic battle between the wall-crawler and the King of the Symbiotes in Spider-Man 5, 6, or beyond.
