The group of thieves descended from the ancient civilization of Babylon, the trio are best known for racing around on hoverboards called Extreme Gears. Starting as villains for Sonic, their core purpose in Sonic Riders is winning a race set up by Dr. Eggman, who says he can use the Chaos Emeralds to make their ancient homeland, the Babylon Garden, return. If this is the case, then they could offer closure to what happened not only to the owls, but to Knuckles’ Echidna Tribe as well. This can potentially open the door for how future stories play out depending on what the outcome was.

Another possibility is that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a loose adaptation of Sonic Riders, the Babylonians bringing Gears to Earth and using them to continue their thievery in the human world. They might also be influenced to find the Master Emerald, pitting them against Sonic and friends in their quest. While it’s unclear what the story might be, it’s also possible Dr. Robotnik becomes involved in the story, perhaps tricking the Rogues into helping him with another nefarious scheme.
