That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is filled with some of the most exciting and powerful characters in anime. One of the show’s greatest strengths is its main character, Rimuru Tempest, a slime with an insatiable hunger for power. It seems like no matter what the leader of the Jura Tempest Federation gets up to, new abilities are constantly around the corner. And thank goodness they are, because new abilities aren’t the only things waiting for Rimuru.

The newest Demon Lord has his hands full of some of the toughest opponents in his newly isekai’d world. Rimuru has had to fight off fellow Demon Lords, a Dragon Princess, and even invading armies to protect his kingdom.

While his power has increased over the course of the series, so have his opponents. Luckily for the Octagram member, a lot of the strongest characters in Slime happen to be on his side.

Geld

The Orc Leader packs a serious punch

Geld using his Rot Skill in That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime.

Having claimed the mantle of Orc Lord for himself, Geld is one of the strongest and most hard-working characters in all of Slime. He leads a regiment of Tempest’s soldiers from the front, showing off his skills in battle whenever Rimuru requests it. While he may not have the magical abilities of some of the other characters on this list, Geld’s durability and tenacity are second to none.

It’s not an exaggeration to say it would take a small army to take down Geld. A small army might not even cut it, as the invading Crusader army was put down quite easily by Geld, albeit with the help of Shion. His standard sword and shield fighting style may seem simple, but there aren’t many opponents who can stand against it. Having Geld on his side means Rimuru has a lot less to worry about both defending his nation and conquering another.

Souei

Rimuru’s Master of Stealth is a handful in battle

Souei looking determined

Rimuru is lucky to be surrounded by a wealth of competent companions. Souei is one of the strongest and brightest, conducting incredibly important recon missions while also being a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. As one of the Majin named by Rimuru himself, Souei is not only one of the best fighters in Tempest, but in all of That Time I Was Reincarnated as a Slime.

Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers unprecedentedly gives a hero a choice who makes a shocking decision for unheard of reasons.

Souei uses a couple of different unique and powerful skills in battle. His two most notable abilities include his Shadow Clone ability, where Souei can create multiple copies of himself, and his Sticky-Steel Thread. These two abilities allow Souei to be all over the battlefield at once, trapping his enemies with a nearly undetectable and indestructible thread. The only thing an enemy would want less than seeing Souei come after them is to not see Souei come after them.

Shion

The Wicked Oni’s cooking isn’t her only threat

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 8 Shion

As the First Secretary of the nation of Tempest, Shion’s hands are full. When she’s not making inedible meals, she’s leading her personal army in battle, defeating her enemies with an almost frustrating level of endurance. She even evolved into her own specific type of demon – the Wicked Oni. As a Wicked Oni, her power level is comparable to a Demon Lord, setting her apart from most of her enemies.

Shion carries an incredibly powerful sword with her called the True Gorikimaru. Her sword can take heaps of punishment and may be one of the few weapons in the series that can keep up with Shion’s power output. She didn’t even need it to take on the invading Crusader army either, as she destroyed their coveted Holy Field ability in a single hit. While her cooking could be considered downright dangerous, any of her enemies would prefer her to be in the kitchen than on the battlefield.

7

Benimaru

The Minister of Defense doesn’t mess around

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 8 Benimaru

The strongest of the Kijin, Benimaru is the Minister of Defense for a reason. While his brothers and sisters are adept at battle, they usually have another interest or hobby that takes them out of it. Not Benimaru, as this warrior eats and sleeps on the battlefield. When the Kingdom of Falmuth came to invade Tempest, Benimaru was more than excited to meet them face-to-face.

He was able to kill dozens of soldiers by himself in an instant. He pulled out his sword, lit it on fire, and flew through his enemies with a ferocity like a wild animal. They didn’t even get a chance to defend themselves, but it wouldn’t have mattered even if they had. Benimaru’s swordsmanship, overwhelming abilities, and natural gifts as a leader make him the strongest Oni Rimuru can rely on.

Carrion

An ex-Demon Lord is still a Demon Lord

Demon Lord Carrion looks concerned fighting Milim Nava

Carrion is still one of the strongest characters in the series, even after relinquishing his title as Demon Lord. While he is currently serving as Milim’s aid, Carrion is still a problem for anyone standing against him. Benimaru went to go train with him and didn’t stand a chance, highlighting the difference in power between the two.

While Carrion initially came off as a warmonger, it was revealed that he’s a lot more considerate than believed. His mindfulness makes him a threat on the battlefield, and that’s not even mentioning his brutish strength. As the leader of Eurazania and the Beastkeeteers, he uses his strength to set an example for all. Not many would be dumb enough to get in Carrion’s way.

Hinata Sakaguchi

Another Otherworlder with absurd power

Hinata Sakaguchi and Dead End Rainbow in That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime

Hinata Sakaguchi is one of the few characters in all of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime to push the main character Rimuru to his absolute limit. In their fight earlier in season 2, Hinata used a flurry of abilities to incapacitate the future Demon Slime before they even fought, showing her elite fighting skills. Once their fight began, even Rimuru couldn’t help but acknowledge her overwhelming abilities with both her sword and magic.

The tides are starting to turn for Hinata Sakaguchi as she’s coming to realize that Rimuru isn’t quite the monster she thought he was. Hinata’s signature Usurper skill is one of the strongest in the series too, giving her the power to steal her opponent’s abilities mid-battle. With the Seven Days Clergy betraying her, her remarkable power might be added to Tempest’s side after all.

Diablo (Noir)

Diablo’s full power still hasn’t been put on display

Diablo summoned by Rimuru in That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime

Diablo is the most mysterious and unique character in all of Slime. He was summoned by Rimuru right after the Demon Slime killed 10,000 enemy soldiers, giving their soul-less corpses as a gift to the Daemon. It was a worthy investment for Rimuru, as Diablo has been an absolute menace every time he’s been summoned since. Not only does he have abilities most of the characters can hardly understand, but he knows exactly when to use them, showing his extreme proficiency in battle.

Rimuru used Diablo as a major piece to overthrow Falmuth’s king and install their own. He’s hugely successful and even comes back to Tempest with enough time to defend it from the Crusader army. Saara, a full-fledged saint, couldn’t even scratch Diablo when the Primordial was just standing there asking to be hit.

Milim Nava

The Dragon Princess has insane abilities

Milim smiling with joy in That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime

Milim Nava is one of the most dangerous, chaotic, and downright fun characters in the series. Her irreverent behavior coupled with her borderline world-shattering power always makes for an interesting episode. She put Rimuru on his heels in their fight at Walpurgis when she convinced everyone she was under Clayman’s control. If it wasn’t for the True Dragon Veldora showing up right in the nick of time, Rimuru would’ve suffered some serious damage.

Her Stampede ability transforms her into her true half-dragon form, giving her the ability to trample over anyone else on the battlefield. Her Drago Nova and Drago Buster abilities are unlike any others in Slime as they use Stardust instead of Magicules, giving her a unique damage type and little to no way of blocking them. As with all of Rimuru’s former enemies, he is lucky Milim Nava is now on his good side.

Veldora Tempest

The Storm Dragon is one of the few True Dragons in existence

Veldora before being consumed by Rimuru in That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime

Veldora is a name feared by everyone in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Bringing it up changes a casual conversation into a serious one instantly. Before being pacified by Rimuru, Veldora roamed the Earth and terrorized humanity for thousands of years with nobody to stop him. Now, he’s arguably Rimuru’s greatest weapon as his powers transcend what most other creatures can even comprehend.

Veldora’s obsession with manga allowed him to come up with his own unique hand-to-hand fighting style called the “Veldora Style Killing-Arts”. When he’s in his True Dragon form is when he’s at his most dangerous though, as he has access to abilities like the Black Flame, Dark Lightning, and Black Thunder. He’s Rimuru’s last line of defense for a reason. If Veldora finally gets called onto the battlefield, the very shape of the world could change.

Rimuru Tempest

The Demon Slime is at the top and only getting stronger

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Rimuru with a black-flaming sword.

Rimuru Tempest has an insane power trajectory. He started the series as a reincarnated slime, being reborn blind in a random cave. He has since gained enough followers to build a nation, developed some of the most overpowered abilities in the series, and made friends with the strongest people (and dragons) in the world. His unique skill, Predator, was the perfect starting point as it allowed him to consume, analyze, and mimic his opponents and their abilities.

The skill has since evolved into Gluttony, which then evolved further into Beezlebuth, Lord of Gluttony. Beezlebuth allows Rimuru to do everything Predator and Gluttony could do plus it gives him the ability to consume his targets in a black hole, trapping them in an imaginary space and giving Rimuru to ability to consume their souls. Rimuru Tempest has been getting exponentially stronger since the series began and if he keeps it up, there will be nobody that could even hold a candle to him.
