The Fantastic Four actors suit up with 1960s and modern-themed costumes in new Marvel Cinematic Universe art. Marvel’s First Family is finally joining the MCU on a full-time basis, as The Fantastic Four reboot is currently in the final stages of pre-production. The Fantastic Four will be the first movie to kickoff Phase 6 as the MCU heads into the final part of The Multiverse Saga.

As of right now, The Fantastic Four filming is starting in July, as Marvel Studios is still rounding out the cast ahead of principal photography. With the world waiting patiently to see The Fantastic Four actors suit up, several artists have shared artwork of what their costumes could look like in different time periods.

Spideyvegas did a rendition of The Fantastic Four in modern costumes as part of the present MCU timeline. These suits are more armored-based and in line with what a lot of heroes in the MCU currently go with as part of their uniforms.

Stacxtivist, astrlynart, art_oflegion & zippexe did a collaboration where they pitched The Fantastic Four cast members with costumes directly from the 1960s. Rather than armor, these are more casual, but with designs that make it evident that the artists were exploring what it would look like if the theory the film takes place in the 60s is correct.

The Fantastic Four’s 1960s Time Setting Theory Explained

When Marvel Studios finally made it official who would star in the reboot, an image was released showing The Fantastic Four cast through concept art in the MCU. However, a lot of clues in the photo sparked the theory that The Fantastic Four will be set in the 1960s. Based on some of the props featured in the image, along with the costumes that the characters are donning, the visuals of the impending film have a very 1960s look to them, which would also explain a lot of things about the team’s lacking presence in the present MCU timeline.

There have also been theories that if The Fantastic Four is indeed taking place in the past, that the MCU will somehow bring them into the present through time travel. Another scenario that has been speculated is that not only is The Fantastic Four in the past, but a different universe altogether. That would also support the notion of why the Fantastic Four characters have never been mentioned during the present.

As The Fantastic Four will be starting filming this summer, there are bound to set photos and video clips emerging during the production to indicate more when and where the film takes place in the MCU. If this is indeed a period piece, it will be exciting to see how Marvel Studios will approach the characters from the 1960s, making it stand out from past live-action versions. Hopefully, Marvel Studios will have more news to announce for The Fantastic Four as they get ready for principal photography.
