New fan art promoting Marvel Studios’ upcoming Vision series imagines the Scarlet Witch’s dramatic and much-wanted return to the MCU. Following the massive success of WandaVision in the MCU’s Phase 4, two spinoffs from the Disney+ series were confirmed. The first, Agatha All Along, is scheduled for release in September 2024 and will catch up with Kathryn Hahn’s powerful MCU witch, Agatha Harkness. The second, originally titled Vision Quest, was confirmed in October 2022, with WandaVision’s Jac Schaeffer returning as head writer and executive producer, though she was no longer involved in the project by May 2024.

Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas was hired as the showrunner for Marvel Studios’ new Vision series in May 2024, which has now been confirmed for release in 2026 as part of the MCU’s Phase 6. Paul Bettany will reprise the role of Vision in the series, and though not much is yet known about the project, rumors have suggested that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, could also return following her death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This dramatic return has now been imagined in a stunning fan-made poster shared by spideyvegas.

WandaVision opened the MCU’s Disney+ chapter, and years after the release of the first Marvel Studios show, it is getting two very different sequels.

What Will Vision’s New MCU Series Be About?

Despite Variety reporting that Terry Matalas has been hired as the Vision series’ showrunner, and confirming the series’ 2026 release date, not much is known about the storyline or cast for the upcoming live-action spinoff. Paul Bettany’s Vision will be the series’ focus, presumably picking up in the wake of his transformation in 2021’s WandaVision. Bettany originally voiced JARVIS, but appeared physically as Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He went on to become a crucial member of the Avengers, though he was later killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War so the Mad Titan could claim the Mind Stone.

White Vision

Following his demise, Vision was inadvertently created by the Scarlet Witch during her establishment of the Hex around Westview, New Jersey, allowing the pair to live their sitcom-style life during WandaVision. Concurrently, SWORD rebuilt Vision in the outside world from the broken pieces of his original body, reviving him with a sleeker, white design. This new White Vision entered the Westview Hex and attacked the Scarlet Witch and Vision, but was stopped by the new Vision and had his memories restored, prompting him to leave to locations unknown. This created the perfect jumping off point for the MCU’s Vision series.

Elements of Marvel Comics’ Vision Quest storyline were used in WandaVision, so it seems that these plot points won’t be revisited in the new Vision series. Speculation has suggested that the series could debut Vision’s synthezoid family, including his wife Virginia, son Vin, and daughter Viv, which could see Vision try to recreate the happy family life he had in Westview. Marvel Studios’ new Vision series could also lay the foundations for the MCU’s West Coast Avengers, of which Vision was a founding member in Marvel Comics, which could make the upcoming series a very important installment in the MCU.

Marvel Studios’ Vision Quest is a limited series set in the MCU and released on Disney+. It reveals the fate of Paul Bettany’s resurrected Avenger, which was last seen fleeing Westview at the end of 2021’s WandaVision. After the original synthezoid died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, his body was reassembled by the secret organization SWORD, and his consciousness was restored by Scarlet Witch’s magically recreated version of the robot.
