Starfield may have a reputation for hiding some fun secrets right under the noses of even the most devoted players, but this latest discovery could be enough to completely flip the game’s lore on its head. As players venture across the galaxy, they’ll no doubt come into contact with the Settle Systems News Network, a station dedicated to bringing the people of the cosmos the most up-to-date information on the events happening on almost every planet. While it may seem like a good idea to offer them some stories here and there, players may want to rethink that choice.

Posted to Reddit by user Jonathan-Earl, the player notes that after spending 300 hours in Starfield they managed to stumble upon a galaxy-shattering discovery: The Settled Systems News Network’s logo consists of a pattern that looks identical to the player’s Starborn powers.

Whether or not this is just a coincidence remains unknown but the resemblance is undoubtedly uncanny; the various segments of the circle closely correlate to those present in the Starborn’s power menu. The community was quick to run with the find, suggesting some fun ideas as to what it could mean.

Given that Starfield makes it clear that those blessed with Starborn abilities are beings of immense power, some fans have taken to assume that the logo isn’t a mere coincidence but a signal to other multiversal travelers. The most popular theory, posited by user MJBotte, is that the SSNN is operated by Starborns that control the flow of information across the galaxy, purposefully obfuscating any details on the artifacts needed to enter the Unity. It’s no doubt a compelling idea that would have a major impact on Starfield‘s lore and world-building.

The more practical suggestion, which was provided by AoiJitensha, is that the visual was merely an older map of Starfield‘s systems that was created during early builds and subsequently replaced by the current iteration. Rather than scrapping it, Bethesda could have just repurposed it for the SSNN logo. It certainly seems like the more likely answer but fans will no doubt continue to support their own theories as speculation continues.

When it comes to Starfield‘s Starborn characters, the nature of the group is still somewhat mysterious. Given that anyone can become Starborn simply by entering the Unity and jumping to a new universe, there’s a great deal of confusion and conflict when it comes to the faction’s ideals. Perhaps the Shattered Space DLC will expand on the concept, providing players with a resolution on how to best deal with the artifacts used to access the Unity.
