Fallout star Walton Goggins teases The Ghoul’s journey in season 2 of the hit show. Serving as an adaptation of the popular video game franchise of the same name, Prime Video’s Fallout charts Lucy’s (Ella Purnell) journey as she traverses a post-apocalyptic wasteland and eventually comes into contact with Goggin’s Ghoul. Season 1 of the show, which was a major success, ends with big questions left unanswered, but Fallout season 2 is now confirmed to be on the way.

In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Goggins comments on what he knows about Fallout season 2, and what could be in store for his character. According to the actor, creators Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet have a clear plan in place for season 2, and he’s been able to provide some input regarding The Ghoul’s future. Check out Goggins’ full comment below:

“In the conversations that we’ve had, we knew that if we were to get a second season that the first season really unpacked very little. You know, there was really very little they explored even though it feels big. Because the game itself is hundreds, a thousand hours, but in this fictionalized version of a Fallout story that fits in the canon of Fallout, in this story that we’re telling, there’s so many questions left unanswered.

And yeah, they have an idea of where they want to go, and they’ve asked for my input. I’ve had seats at tables now for a long time in that world. But they know exactly what they’re doing. So yeah, I think they have this second part of the journey really kind of beated out. For me, it all goes down to specificity. I mean, there is something that is going to happen the next day, or two days later, or whenever they decide to pick this story up. I haven’t read it after the finale.

And there is a version of this that I see. There is humor and there is camaraderie, and there is antagonism between these possible scenarios that I would like to see kind of played out. Because we have to earn every emotional moment that we have. Just like the humor, it’s all situational. I think they see far into the future.”

How Fallout Season 1 Sets Up The Ghoul’s Season 2 Story

What’s Next For The Ghoul & Lucy?

Fallout season 1 ends with several major revelations. Among them is Lucy’s realization that her father, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), is behind the bombing of Shady Sands and, ultimately, the ghoulification of her mother. Hank ultimately escapes custody and sets off into the desert toward New Vegas wearing power armor that he stole from Maximus (Aaron Moten). The Ghoul also sets off into the Wasteland to find his family and bring Vault-Tec leaders to justice, and Lucy decides to go with him.

10 Game Questions Fallout Season 2 Could Answer

The Fallout series still has no shortage of mysteries which the second season of the TV show could explore, especially in regard to New Vegas.

After Lucy and The Ghoul spend much of season 1 as enemies, season 2 could see the pair develop a more collaborative dynamic. While there are sure to be a number of disagreements ahead stemming from their vastly different outlooks on life and their different experiences in the Wasteland, Lucy makes a clear choice to join her former captor. Each character could change the other in this new partnership, with Lucy perhaps becoming a little more ruthless and The Ghoul perhaps regaining some humanity.

With Hank still alive and heading to Fallout‘s iconic New Vegas location, it seems likely that Lucy and The Ghoul will eventually wind up here as well. This will give the show the opportunity to further explore some key elements of the games in greater detail. While Fallout season 2 may not be coming anytime soon since filming has not yet started, Goggins evidently already has a good idea of where his character is going from here.
