The Boys cast members Susan Heyward, Colby Minifie, and Valorie Curry tease how new dynamics will be explored in season 4. After the end of The Boys season 3, Homelander is becoming a far bigger threat to the world than ever. With Butcher’s band of vigilantes dealing with the fallout of last season, time is starting to run out, and The Boys season 4 is sure to raise the stakes even higher.

As The Boys continue with their Marvel and DC parodies, two new faces will be entering season 4 to stir things up. Heyward is playing Sister Sage, who is touted as a former member of Teenage Kix in a departure from the comics. Curry is portraying Firecracker, who is likely a nod to Marvel’s beloved X-Men heroine Jubilee. Both of these new characters mark original creations for The Boys universe, and the connections they make as part of the Seven will bring plenty of excitement.

Screen Rant interviewed Minifie, Heyward, and Curry about the new blood entering The Boys season 4, set to premiere on June 13 on Prime Video. Minifie teased how Ashley deals with the new power structure, while Heyward and Curry spoke about entering the franchise as Sister Sage and Firecracker, respectively.

Susan Heyward, Colby Minifie, & Valorie Curry Tease The Boys Season 4

Screen Rant: Colby, how is Ashley faring in Vought this season? She’s been Homelander’s right-hand woman for some time, but it seems like she’s losing some prestige.

Colby Minifie: Yeah, thanks, Susan. She’s being challenged a little bit, and I think the introduction of Sage into – especially Ashley’s office – is a big threat to her. I think she’s realizing how she feels about this job, which is that she really likes being on top and however traumatic her relationship with Homeland is, having anybody challenge that is not okay with her.

Also, really what it is, is how Sage talks to Homelander and he doesn’t immediately kill her. I am like, “Wait, I’ve spent three years bowing down to this man, and now this is happening? No fair!” I think she’s dealing with a lot of that, and the stakes are higher as always, as they are every season for Ashley. She gets to explore a little bit some of that power play in a new, fun, kinky way.

Meet Sister Sage: The Smartest Person Alive

Susan, Sister Sage is the smartest person alive. Why is it the smartest move to align oneself with Homelander?

Susan Heyward: Well, what I can say for now, without any spoilers, is that I think it’s similar to Ashley’s hunger for power. We have to look at what we’re willing to do to be close to that power, to use it, to think that we can wield it and control it.

I think it calls into question a certain kind of responsibility. What are we willing to be responsible for in our pursuit of power, and when do we say, “I was just doing my job?” When do we say, “I had to do it to survive?” When do we say, “No, I made this choice. I’m going to take ownership of that?”

The Passion Of Firecracker In The Boys Season 4

Valorie Curry as Firecracker in The Boys season 4

Valorie, Firecracker’s job is selling passion. Can you talk about her beliefs and why they put Starlight in her sightline here?

Valorie Curry: She has her reasons for Starlight being her target that we can’t talk about, but her beliefs are about the people that she believes have been marginalized and dismissed and hurt by the systems of power, and she’s also experienced her own pain. That’s what she believes, and what she is willing to say on stage is just about anything in order to have a platform to theoretically help those people.

There’s always that question with these ideologues of, “Did they really believe it, or was this just a way to manipulate and access power?” And I think that she tends toward the latter because she’s great at reading a room. She’s great at knowing what people want to hear, what people need, and at emotionally intuiting that. She can’t really construct a sentence, but she can intuit those things, and she will give you what you need – which makes her kind of change on a dime from scene to scene.

Finally, if you had to pick one Supe in the world of The Boys to team up with, other than Homelander, who would it be?

Colby Minifie: I mean, I would pick Sage. I feel like, even though there’s no physical ability, the smarts are the way out, I feel you just have to be really smart in order to escape people.

Susan Heyward: Same way. I feel like keeping her cool is its own kind of superpower, and the patience to be able to survive and find your moment to strike all that kind of strategy stuff can be really powerful in complete chaos.

Valorie Curry: God, that’s hard in this world. I’m going to say Ryan. He’s mini-Homelander, but the substance of his soul is yet to be seen. I don’t trust Sage as far as I can throw her.
