Warning: spoilers for Blood Hunt #2!Bloodline, the daughter of iconic vampire hunter Blade, has officially joined the Avengers! In 2022, Marvel introduced Brielle Brooks, the secret daughter of Blade and his longtime human girlfriend, Safron Caulder. When Doctor Strange’s death removed a years-long protection spell that had hidden Brielle from her father’s enemies, he was forced to re-enter her life to train her for survival.

Not even a full two years into her superhero career, Bloodline has earned the right to stand next to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Blood Hunt #2 by Jed MacKay, Pepe Larraz, Marte Gracia, and Cory Petit. The moment comes one issue after Blade betrayed the Avengers, revealing himself as the mastermind of a new worldwide vampire invasion plaguing the Marvel Universe.

With the Avengers by her side, the new development makes it all the more apparent that Bloodline may be the only person capable of stopping her father’s rampage.

In the recent Dracula: Blood Hunt #1 (Danny Lore and Vincenzo Carratù), the Lord of the Vampires recruited Bloodline to help him stop a young vampire army that doesn’t have an allegiance to him. Going into this issue, while fighting off Dracula’s clone Bloodstorm One, the unlikely duo are suddenly saved by Captain Marvel, Captain America, Iron Man, and Vision. Carol declares that it’s the Avengers’ job to make sure the Sun rises tomorrow, with Bloodline joining the heroes for a group pose, continuing on with them as part of the anti-vamp unit.

Whether Bloodline’s Avengers membership is permanent moving forward or temporary for the sake of the Blood Hunt event remains to be seen. In either case, Bloodline enters the Avengers and fills a spot that Blade exited not too long ago. With the renewed spotlight on Bloodline that her Avengers alliance provides, it feels like a sign that she will be a top candidate to put a stop to Blade’s reign of terror. Narratively, Bloodline is probably the only character who could get through to Blade on a human level.

Going back to the Dracula tie-in, that story established how the death of the Sun has strengthened Bloodline’s power in ways she never imagined. She’s still a rookie in the superhero field, and yet she just received a major power upgrade and a coveted vote of confidence from the Avengers. This seems like it’s not just character development, but setting Bloodline up to play a major role in this Blade and vampire-focused event. Most importantly, the fact that all of this is happening so early in her hero career is a good sign of her potential as a Marvel hero. As her star rises alongside the Avengers, Blade‘s daughter Bloodline is destined for superstar-level greatness.
