Brainiac’s Planet Colu Was A World Of Pure Science

Action Comics #1065 by Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval, Miguel Mendonca, Alejandro Sanchez, and Dave Sharpe.

Brainiac's Planet Colu

The planet of Colu is in deep space, a rim world on the edge of the Magellanic Clouds. It’s the only habitable planet in its solar system, which allowed the Coluans to not have to worry about any nearby invaders or wars. It also allowed the Coluans to spend a great deal of time focusing entirely on science. Their people even openly rejected the use of magic, with almost no Coluans being capable of using it. Superman himself states the planet of Colu is covered in technology, with almost no grass in sight. Readers can see Superman’s description of Colu below.

The Coluans were so dependent on technology that they created a government that was fully run by robots. Naturally, this didn’t end well when the robots took over and came to be known as the Computer Tyrants. These computers enslaved the Coluans and ruled with a brutal fist until they were eventually defeated by Vril Dox and L.E.G.I.O.N. Despite the fact they ended up enslaved by the computers they created, the Coluan people are regarded as the smartest in the universe on average. This is likely the source of Brainiac’s thirst for knowledge that turned him into a villain.

Colu Was Eventually Destroyed By The Omega Titans

The Planet Colu Is Destroyed By The Wisdom Titan

During the events of Justice League: No Justice #3, the planet of Colu comes under threat from the Omega Titans. The Omega Titans are primal forces of nature that exist to help a universe move towards destruction when it’s time. Naturally, the heroes of the DC Universe don’t want their universe to die, which leads to them trying to battle the Wisdom Titan on the planet of Colu. Unfortunately, the Justice League isn’t able to save Colu, and the Wisdom Titan succeeds in consuming the planet, completely obliterating it and leaving billions of Coluans without a home.

The heroes of the Justice League truly do everything they can to save the planet, but Colu isn’t able to be saved. While the Coluans are evacuated, the story doesn’t really touch on where those Coluans end up. They are likely scattered across the galaxy, as they are completely without a home world now. That’s what makes Brainiac having a city of Colu so shocking. It’s not that he has Coluans, as there are still plenty of those in the universe, but the fact that he has the very last city of Colu. The Wisdom Titan completely obliterated the planet, including all cities and technology on it, except for this one city.

Brainiac’s reveal that he has a city from Colu could have major implications for the DC Universe, as well as for his own personal story. Colu is widely known as the smartest and most technologically advanced planet in the DC Universe. The fact this technology is suddenly back, could spell major change for the United Planets.

Brainiac Restores A City Of Colu

In addition, Brainiac has recently been looking to understand love. The villain was first truly exposed to love when Brainiac attacked the planet of Czarnia. This seemingly piqued Brainiac’s interest, and now he’s trying to experience love in his own way, which might be why he just revived the city of Colu.

Brainiac Wants To Understand Love

Everything Brainiac Has Done Lately Seems To Be About Love

Comic book page: Brainiac Is Building The Brainiac Queen

Brainiac is all about understanding things and gathering knowledge. It’s really the only thing he cares about, and it seems that love is the one thing that Brainiac has never experienced. This has put him on a journey to try and understand it, and now Brainiac is gathering his own family to try and see if he can feel love for them. It’s no secret that, lately, Brainiac has begun building the Brainiac Queen. But he’s also gone a step further and hunted down his own son, Vril Dox. This strongly points towards the idea that Brainiac is trying to build his own family.

Reviving the city from Colu might also be another attempt by Brainiac to try and feel some semblance of love. There are many types of love that people can feel, whether it be love for their family, love for their friends, or love for their people. Brainiac is trying to experience any of them. With him creating the Brainiac Queen and hunting down his son, he could be attempting to feel love for a family and, with the return of this lost city of Colu, he might also be trying to see if he can experience love for his people.

Brainiac’s Desire For Love Is Changing The DC Universe

Brainiac Will Stop At Nothing To Hold All Knowledge In The Universe

Brainiac is one of the most dangerous villains in the DC Universe, and that danger has always been because of his thirst for knowledge. Brainiac has destroyed entire planets after stealing knowledge from them to make sure he’s the only one with them. Now, Brainiac seems to be affecting the universe differently. Instead of obliterating planets, he’s brought back one of DC’s many lost planets, and this could change the DC Universe forever. Brainiac is just one Coluan, but now that he’s brought back a whole city from Colu, along with the advanced Coluan technology, he’s become Superman’s most dangerous villain.
