Boruto and Himawari are the latest descendants of two of Konoha’s most prominent clans; the Uzumaki and the Hyuga. While Naruto’s family has often played a significant role in the story, Hinata’s bloodline tends to be forgotten by many. This could soon change, as chapter 10 of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga could have implied that the Hyuga clan will once again become relevant in the story.

After introducing himself to Himawari, the newly formed Kurama mentioned that destiny could have chosen the young kunoichi for her Uzumaki and Hyuga blood. This could imply that Hinata’s family may be more powerful than first imagined, making them vital allies during the upcoming battle against the mysterious new villain Jura and his allies.

Himawari’s Hyuga Blood Has Become A Key Weapon

Himawari’s family could become key to saving the world

In chapter 9 of the Boruto Two Blue Vortex manga, it was revealed that Kurama had reformed inside Himawari after his death during the battle against Isshiki. After her initial shock, Naruto’s daughter was able to ask the Nine-Tails why he chose her to be his new vessel. Chapter 10 explains that Kurama did not choose the person who would become the new Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. Instead, the Bijuu proposed two theories as to why Naruto’s daughter became his new host. The first proposed that Himawari could have been given a fragment of Kurama’s power as a baby.

The second, and more interesting, one implied that the universe itself chose the young kunoichi for her Uzumaki and Hyuga blood. The Uzumaki clan has constantly been described as vital in the control of Bijuus, given that the members of the family have impressive reserves of vital energy. The Hyuga clan, on the other hand, has not appeared to be relevant in the franchise for many years. The fact that Kurama mentioned Hinata’s family by name implies that they could be of vital importance to the story.

While not as prominent as the Uchiha clan, the Hyuga family has been one of the most powerful and influential families in Konoha. Their Kekkei Genkai, the Byakugan, is one of the most powerful Dojutsu in the entire franchise. Seeing as Kurama was trying to get Himawari to trust in herself more during the events of chapter 10, it stands to reason that he could also be trying to get her to rely on her family’s techniques as well. By combining the Nine-Tails’ chakra with the Hyuga’s special abilities, Himawari could become an incredibly powerful kunoichi.

An Ancient Legacy

The Hyuga clan is closely related to the Otsutsuki

Throughout the original series, fans learned that many of the Ninja World’s most powerful clans have some connection with the ancient Otsutsuki family. One of the most directly linked clans in the series is the Hyuga, seeing as they are descendants of the Otstustuki who resided on the moon. This fact was revealed in Naruto: The Last movie (one of only two canon movies in the franchise), which revolved almost entirely around the importance of the Hyuga clan. The antagonist of the film, Toneri Otsutsuki, stole the Byakugan from Hinata’s younger sister, Hanabi, to access the Dojutsu’s evolved form, the Tenseigan.

Toneri’s new eyes not only granted him increased speed, strength, and stamina, but also gave him the ability to use incredibly rare Jutsu like the Truth Seeking Orbs. While the events of the movie have seldom been brought up again, they imply that the Hyuga blood is several times more powerful than originally believed. Hinata’s family could once again become important in the franchise thanks to the events of chapter 10. Kurama stating that the Hyuga clan played a major role in Himawari becoming a Jinchuriki, could once again highlight the importance of Himawari’s maternal side of the family.

Having Kurama boost her abilities could help Himawari achieve a power similar to that of Toneri. While the young kunoichi will likely never obtain the same strength that a pure Otsutsuki, she could become a truly terrifying opponent. Kurama might be aware of this, which is why he placed special emphasis on his new vessel’s heritage. With time, Himawari could learn to utilize the Nine-Tails abilities as well as her family’s unique skills to become an unstoppable warrior. Kurama forcing the young girl to fight and allowing her to use his chakra during their first encounter could be the beginning of Naruto’s daughter’s new training.

The Hyuga clan is without a doubt one of the most important families in the world created by Masashi Kishimoto. After being somewhat forgotten for a long time, it seems as if Boruto Two Blue Vortex will try to bring them back into the spotlight. It may be time for the Ninja World to realize that Hinata’s side of the family is equally powerful and important as Naruto’s.
