Cyclops finally gets the MCU costume he deserves in a cosplay that perfectly captures a source material-based design that all fans can agree is an inarguable classic. This animation-to-live-action recreation will give die-hard fans a new appreciation for the original art and might even lead some enthusiasts to demand that Marvel seriously consider this design for future X-Men projects involving Scott Summers.

Cosplayer Aaron Rivin took to Instagram to share his truly awe-inspiring Cyclops costume. The suit features the X-Man’s classic yellow, blue, and black color scheme, along with red accents and Scott’s signature visor. Rivin revealed that his suit was inspired by character artist Steven Gordon’s Cyclops design from X-Men: Evolution, his favorite rendition of the character.

Many fans will likely agree that this version of Scott Summers is one of the best iterations of the character and commend Rivin for doing a phenomenal job translating this animated design into a cosplay worthy of the MCU.

Steven Gordon’s Cyclops Design From X-Men: Evolution Inspires MCU-Ready Cosplay

Rivin stays true to Gordon’s design with few deviations. Like the original, he dons a thin visor and a classic X-Men suit featuring a yellow “X” spanning across the chest, gloves, and the red and black X-Men “X” symbol adorning each shoulder. However, there is a slight change in the shoulder design. In the animated version, the “X” is nearly hand-sized, but in Rivin’s rendition, he opts for a smaller, more subtle “X”. Additionally, he adds various textures to his suit and metallic clasps, further elevating the design while still keeping it true to the original.

In his post, Rivin revealed that the Cyclops suit took four years to create. This truly demonstrates a level of dedication, love, and effort not many can match in the realm of cosplay. Rivin also shared that he wasn’t alone in creating his Cyclops masterpiece and had help from various other artists. While he was responsible for the costume design, he credited @whitesheepleather with the actual making of the costume. The visor model was attributed to @maffhewdc and brought to life by @do_you_even_cosplay, with the design by Rivin himself and L Boldero.

Cyclops, a.k.a. Scott Summers, is the X-Men’s core team leader and one of the first characters to appear in the franchise. As a human/mutant hybrid, Cyclops has the power to launch massive bursts of energy from his eyes that are regulated through the use of a specially designed visor. Despite his calm and collected demeanor, he tends to lose it when in the presence of a fellow team member, Wolverine.
