Warren Glowatski’s trial in Under the Bridge put a strain on his relationship with Samara, leaving ambiguous whether they could ever get back together. The highly-rated Hulu miniseries Under the Bridge is finally reaching its conclusion after many weeks of telling a fictionalization of the true story of Reena Virk’s murder. The teens responsible for her attack and murder have been arrested in the story.

The ending of Under the Bridge episode 7 shows Warren Glowatski’s trial and verdict, putting him behind bars with a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after seven years. Glowatski’s part in Reena Virk’s murder caused his girlfriend Samara distress, and the trial only further drove a wedge between them. However, he clearly still had feelings for her. Because both characters are based on real people, this raises the question of what happened to their relationship after the events of Under the Bridge.

It’s Unknown If Warren & Samara Broke Up After Under The Bridge

One major change in Under the Bridge episode 7 is that Samara didn’t want to see Warren in prison. In real life, Samara begged to see Warren, finding a way to send him an illicit letter after being denied contact. Warren also maintained his love for Samara, getting a jailhouse tattoo to commemorate their relationship. He sent multiple letters that were confiscated. The show also removed the heartwrenching moment in the book where Samara was forced to testify against Warren, causing conflicted feelings. Without these moments, it’s unclear whether the pair ever broke up in the miniseries.

However, in real life, Samara’s stepfather asked Warren to stop calling and sending letters so that she could move on with her life. This and the fact that she says she had boyfriends in high school implies that they broke up. Godfrey writes that Samara reached out to Warren after two years without contact, and they exchanged letters. She mentioned thinking about going to visit him, but that’s the last mention of Samara and Warren’s relationship – whether platonic or romantic. It’s unknown whether the two ever met again or if they revived their relationship.

The Real Samara’s Whereabouts Are Unknown After Under The Bridge

Samara smiles at Warren on the night of Reena Virk's murder in Under the Bridge

Since the events of Under the Bridge, Samara has disappeared from the public eye, an incredible feat considering her anonymity was not protected in the way that the attackers were. It’s unknown what career she went into, whether she found romance, or where she resides. Considering her privacy was previously violated due to her relationship with Warren Glowatski, it seems especially important that the public allow her to keep her information concealed unless she chooses to put herself in the limelight. Samara should not be forced to reveal information about herself due to her negative teenage experiences.
