A new theory might give some insight into why Bachelor In Paradise isn’t on ABC’s schedule this year. In fall 2023, the network introduced a brand-new Bachelor Nation spin-off called The Golden Bachelor, and yet another new show, The Golden Bachelorette, will air in fall 2024. When factoring in The Bachelorette‘s return in the summer, there is no room in ABC’s lineup for any other show from the franchise, which was confirmed when the network recently unveiled its fall 2024 schedule, proving that Bachelor In Paradise isn’t coming back anytime soon.

There has been a lot of criticism amid ABC’s silence regarding the future of Bachelor In Paradise, but a new theory shared on Reddit might pull back the curtain on what’s going on behind the scenes.

Mahlay1051 recently started a thread and included a screenshot of an announcement that claimed Playa Escondida Sayulita, the hotel in Mexico that typically hosts Bachelor In Paradise, is under new ownership, and they might not want filming to take place there anymore. The person added that it might be “time consuming” to search for a new location that could serve as the perfect replacement in time for when ABC typically films the Bachelor spin-off since there are a lot of logistics involved in planning each season.

Bachelor Fans React To Latest Bachelor In Paradise Theory

Bachelor Nation Fans Have Mixed Reactions To Theory

While this new Bachelor In Paradise theory sounds plausible, not everyone is convinced. The Reddit thread had several replies that ran the gamut from fans who said ABC could easily find a replacement resort if they really wanted to air Bachelor In Paradise this year, to viewers who think the location issue could be just one of several factors that went into the network’s decision. Chill_will_7777 said, “They could have easily found a new place if they really wanted to.” Cormega agreed and added that the “real reason” might be the ratings.

There were several Reddit users who thought this would be a great opportunity to find a new resort that’s a better fit for the Bachelor In Paradise contestants, with PrincessPlastilina saying, “They needed a new place anyway,” because there wasn’t any air conditioning, which isn’t ideal since Bachelor In Paradise typically films during the hottest time of the year. Others think Bachelor In Paradise going on a break will ultimately be beneficial for the show and the franchise since it’ll give the producers time to rework the series and for fans to not be tired of it anymore.

If the resort used for Bachelor In Paradise really is under new ownership now, that could definitely be one of the factors involved in ABC’s decision. However, the most likely reason is that The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette have taken up a lot of the network’s schedule, so there just isn’t any room right now. Assuming Bachelor In Paradise is not canceled, it will likely return next year, possible in between The Bachelorette and The Golden Bachelor in late summer/early fall–or it could trade places with the Golden spin-offs, with the shows alternating every other year.
