Harvey Guillén teases that What We Do In the Shadow season 6 will end by building up to an expensive storyline. Based on Taika Waititi’s 2014 film, the FX series follows a group of Staten Island-based vampires navigating the modern world alongside their exhausted but loyal familiar, as they cross paths with witches, necromancers, werewolves, and the dominant players of vampire society. Guillén portrayed Guillermo, a loyal familiar to Nandor the Relentless (Kayvan Novak), who once dreamed of becoming a vampire himself. What We Do In The Shadows season 6 will be the last, although its release date is yet to be confirmed.

With the season 6 production recently wrapped, Guillén opened up to TV Line to briefly tease what audiences can expect from the final season. Promising an impactful final season that will shake up the story in its final act, the actor teased that season 6 will address Guillermo’s bond with Nander after learning that his dream of becoming a vampire didn’t suit him. Check out Guillén’s response below:

“I think we end with a bang. I would say we’re building up to something very expensive… We’re in a different world. Just because you want something bad enough doesn’t mean that it’s meant for you… and now the only thing that kind of kept you together was this want and hope of getting what you wanted. Did you build a foundation of friendship? Or was it built just on a business transaction?”

Will Guillermo Say Farewell In What We Do In The Shadows Season 6?

Guillermo & His Friends Have Some Issues To Resolve Before Ending With Season 6.

Major changes are not uncommon for What We Do In The Shadows, as each character has undergone their journeys in finding their place in life. From being underachieving conquerors to hunting pariahs of the global vampire community, only to take on a leading role later on, Nandor, Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and Lazlo (Matt Berry) have failed and achieved their goals in the new world. Each vampire has also faced their challenges, such as Nandor’s search for love, Nadja’s business operation, and Lazlo and Colin Robinson’s (Mark Proksch) unique, changing bond.

8 Biggest Questions What We Do In The Shadows Season 6 Must Answer Before The Show Ends

What We Do In The Shadows is saying goodbye with season 6, but there’s still a lot to wrap up with Laszlo, Nandor Nadja, Colin, and Guillermo!

However, Guillermo has remained mostly loyal to the group even after learning and contending about his vampire-slaying heritage and his master’s lack of appreciation. Despite their faults, the vampires care enough to aid him in hiding the truth about his partial transformation from Nandor, and for Nandor to trust and realize that becoming a creature of a night unsettles Guillermo. Despite their undead nature, the group has grown into a family unit, albeit dysfunctional, and that may be enough to keep the living and undead What We Do In The Shadows cast together.

While Guillén is promising a large-scale ending to What We Do In The Shadows, it is also clear that the series will also bring its long-running arcs to a fitting end. After the events of season 5, Guillermo’s major conflict isn’t just resolved but subverted, as the familiar realizes that being a bloodsucking creature of the night isn’t what he wants. As such, season 6 may be set to tackle some of What We Do In The Shadows‘ most emotional storytelling to date.

What We Do in the Shadows is a mockumentary-styled comedy series that follows the exploits of four vampires and a familiar living in Staten Island in the twenty-first century. Unrelated to the film of the same name, the show’s vampires attempt to acclimate to the modern world but tend to find themselves lost often, leaving familiar-hoping-to-become-a-vampire Guillermo de la Cruz to pick up the pieces in the wake of their accidental destruction.
