The transformations in Dragon Ball Super have been some of the franchise’s best, including Gohan’s Beast form. New official art featuring this Beast form has been revealed as it will be part of the next monthly issue of V Jump. Illustrated by Toyotaro, it brings back Gohan in Beast mode, delivering one of his most powerful moments and personal capabilities.

On Twitter, @DbsHype shared a look at the upcoming Interval Special illustration that has been featured in V Jump. Each interval has a different focus, providing new illustrations from Toyotaro, as well as comments and further information about various elements from the Dragon Ball universe.

These intervals are used to span the time between Dragon Ball Super releases. They were previously used in 2022, ahead of the manga’s return in the February 2023 issue. Now, this approach to a hiatus has returned following the passing of Akira Toriyama as fans await Dragon Ball Super’s return.

Gohan Beast Epitomizes Dragon Ball Heroes’ Potential

The first Interval Special from the latest Dragon Ball Super hiatus was focused on the Red Ribbon Army. It featured an illustration of Gevo, the son of Dr. Gero who was the inspiration for Android 16. Now, Gohan’s Beast form is the main illustration for the second Interval Special. Gohan Beast debuted in the film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (2022) before making its manga debut in November 2023 in chapter 99, “Son Gohan’s Ultimate Awakening!” The half-Saiyan used this transformation against Cell Max. The form’s possible thanks to Gohan specifically, making it a technique that isn’t simply Saiyan or Divine and giving Goku’s firstborn son a truly unique power boost.

With how little Gohan Beast has been seen and how long its origin of power remained a mystery, its brief return is very welcome. It’s known as the culmination of the half-Saiyan’s efforts to focus more on developing his human power potential over his Saiyan powers. This has been a fantastic growth and a logical next step from his Ultimate form. It’s also only used by him, with no other fighters in Dragon Ball’s universe known to be capable of achieving it. This is likely due to it being based on his personal determination and the core ways his personality differs regarding his approach to life and fighting.

Gohan Beast & Dragon Ball Super’s Future Fate Remains Unknown

There is presently no official return date for Dragon Ball Super, though a return HAS been confirmed. Until it comes back, Interval Specials will likely continue in V Jump. This is a great opportunity for close-ups of past Dragon Ball elements to return and bring about more details about them. Gohan Beast was particularly mysterious after its initial occurrence, allowing for a lot of speculation on what it meant for its user and his allies. Regardless of what’s next for Gohan Beast and the broader franchise, this form in Dragon Ball Super will always be incredibly badass.
