It was recently announced that actress Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star in the upcoming Jurassic World 4 movie, and if she follows through with this project, it will end her decade-long search for a successful movie franchise. Scarlett Johansson has been acting since 1994, when she made her on-screen acting debut in the fantasy comedy movie, North. Since then, Scarlett Johansson’s movies have become iconic, and she even earned the title of highest-paid actress in the world in 2018 and 2019. However, as much success as she has gained, Johansson has struggled to find a good franchise.

Over the years, Scarlett Johansson has become known for a number of pivotal roles. Her most popular character is likely Natasha Romanoff or Black Widow from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however she was well-established even before Iron Man 2 premiered in 2008. Johansson transitioned into more adult roles in 2003 when she starred in Lost in Translation alongside Bill Murray. From there, she gained attention for films like Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Other Boleyn Girl, and The Prestige. However, among these popular roles, before and after Black Widow, Johansson has never settled into another major franchise.

Scarlett Johansson Has Been Looking For A New Major Movie Franchise Since 2014

Johansson’s franchise attempts have always failed

Despite the fact that Scarlet Johansson’s career blew up with her role as Black Widow, ever since she has struggled to find another franchise of the same caliber. And by looking at her resume, it is clear that that is not for a lack of trying. Although Johansson had a number of Marvel movies set out for her after The Avengers in 2012, she continued starring in films, ranging from the artsy to the commercial.

Lucy is a sci-fi film that had the potential to turn into a franchise, although it mysteriously never took off. A similar trend began to take place as the years continued on. Johansson starred in movies like Ghost in the Shell, and later, the standalone Black Widow movie, but neither of these spurred more movies either. Ultimately, amid Johansson’s arthouse films and sci-fi adventures, she has never been able to start a franchise, much less a franchise as big and important as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, now may be her time to shine.

Jurassic World 4 could be really popular

Although Scarlett Johansson has failed in the franchise department time and again, 2024 may be her year. If Johansson takes the role as Jurassic World 4’s lead, she could finally have the franchise she always aimed for. Although Jurassic World 4 is the third iteration of the Jurassic Park franchise, each new movie has continued to be successful. In this way, Jurassic World 4 is almost guaranteed to do well based on past box office performance and the franchise’s nostalgia factor. Scarlett Johansson’s participation could even help the movie succeed, especially with Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey signed on as well.
