WARNING: Potential Spoilers for Suicide Squad: kill Arkham Asylum #4!

The comic prequel to Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has turned into a bloodbath for Gotham-based villains, and the latest release of the mini-series has confirmed the demise of five more rogues, further swelling the tally of villain deaths. These villains span from obscure to iconic, undoubtedly shattering the hopes of some fans who were anticipating cameos of these rogues in future downloadable content.

John Layman and Jesús Hervás’s Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum #4 witnesses Captain Boomerang forming an unlikely alliance with Mad Hatter, Hypnotic, Spellbinder, Crazy Quilt, and Condiment King amid Amanda Waller’s orchestrated Arkham Asylum riot. This riot serves as Waller’s method of identifying the strongest candidates for her Task Force X.

In a bid to survive the chaos, Mad Hatter and several D-List villains enlist George “Captain Boomerang” Harkness’ combat skills to help them survive the riot in exchange for money. However, this alliance swiftly descends into a villain vs. villain bloodbath, leaving only one character standing.

Shortly after forming their alliance, the six villains find themselves unexpectedly sealed in a room together. This is Waller’s doing, who soon reveals her involvement to the group of villains by appearing on a screen in the room. She then vaguely suggests that only one of them will leave the room alive, leaving their “fate” in their own hands. Without explicitly stating it, Waller insinuates that they will fight to the death to determine the strongest among them. With no true loyalty to each other, the villains instantly begin brawling.

In addition to the overall chaos, the psychic assaults from the various cerebrally inclined villains make it difficult to ascertain exactly who kills whom. Nevertheless, one by one, the villains begin to fall. Condiment King’s arm is severed by an errant boomerang, causing him to bleed out, while Hypnotic seems to push his limits too far, resulting in his head exploding. Spellbinder and Crazy Quilt are shown fighting each other in one panel, and later, they are depicted dead with boomerangs protruding from their bodies. The main confrontation between Mad Hatter and Captain Boomerang ends with Harkness as the victor.

Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum #4 stands out for featuring the highest number of villain deaths in a single issue within the series. Additionally, Captain Boomerang is responsible for most of these deaths, earning him the highest kill count among his soon-to-be fellow Suicide Squad teammates. It is also worth noting that most of the various villains killed in the series thus far have met their end at the hands of individuals outside the core Task Force X members. Hence, Captain Boomerang’s substantial body count significantly deviates from the norm among the Suicide Squad members.
