Warning: Spoilers for The Spectacular Spider-Men #3!Thee original Gwen Stacy is about to return to the Marvel Universe, appearing back in Spider-Man’s life in shocking fashion. Variants of the character have appeared in the mainstream Marvel continuity over the years – most famously, Spider-Gwen, who is entering Earth-616 as her permanent home – but the original Gwen’s reappearance represents a major shake-up for the Webslinger.

In a preview first shared by Looper, this seemingly impossible comeback will be explored in The Spectacular Spider-Men #3. In the issue Marvel reveals Peter Parker’s “wildest dream” – a world where he is married to Gwen Stacy, who never lost her life at the hands of the Green Goblin.

While her appearance may ultimately only be a fleeting one, it still has major implications for Spider-Man lore, both how fans view the past, and what could be in store in the future.
