A DC Universe art edit retools the initial reveal for David Corenswet’s Superman costume by changing the setting to the Kent Farm. As multiple Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters” movies and TV shows are in the works, the first film that will properly kick off the new DC Universe is James Gunn’s Superman. Filming on the new reboot kicked off back in late February and is expected to be done by the summer.

Following Gunn’s reveal of Corenswet in the Superman costume, no additional looks of the suit have been revealed through set photos as the movie is still shooting. As the world waits for another look, popular editor and digital artist Julian Bell shared a different take on the Superman suit reveal.

Instead of having a major attack behind the Man of Steel, Bell changed the setting to have Superman suiting up at the Kent Farm, with Krypto the Super Dog sitting next to him. Bell also retooled the image to have Corenswet’s DC Universe suit cleaner, as the original photo showed signs of it having gone through a battle.

Why David Corenswet’s Superman Costume Has Received Mixed Responses

While the first photo revealed a lot of details about the Superman movie costume, there has been a mixture of responses since Gunn made the reveal to the world. One of the big complaints has been about the setting of Corenswet’s suit-up moment, as he is casually changing into his uniform. Out of context, it could come off as Superman not showing too much concern about Metropolis being attacked by a seemingly major threat.

Another criticism of Gunn’s reveal of the Superman suit is the decision to show Corenswet donning the costume for the first time while looking like it has been through a showdown. Many would have preferred to have seen a cleaner and more visual look at it. There have also been negative comments about the suit design itself, including the choice to have Superman’s costume come with a collar, similar to Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.

So far, none of the other costumes for the Superman cast members have been revealed yet, and it remains to be seen if there will be similar suit reveals. Even though there was a mixture of responses to the first look at him in the suit, there has also definitely been positive feedback from a lot of Superman fans. Hopefully, there will be more glimpses of Corenswet’s Superman movie costume, especially in action, as that will be able to give a better idea of the suit’s overall quality.
