New holocrons from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge feature recordings of the Mortis gods teased at the end of Ahsoka season 1. The Mortis gods, known as the Father, the Son, and the Daughter, were first introduced during The Clone Wars season 3. Their powerful and enigmatic nature has continued to influence other Star Wars stories, with a mural of the Mortis gods leading to the entrance of the World Between Worlds in Star Wars Rebels season 4, and Baylan Skoll encountering statues of them on the planet Peridea in the Ahsoka season 1 finale.

The ongoing relevance of the Mortis gods is further revealed in a video from Nick Williams showcasing the new holocrons from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which features recordings from the Father and the Daughter. Check out the video below:

Combining the new Jedi and Sith holocrons from Galaxy’s Edge leads to a recording from the Father. The Daughter’s recording comes from combining the new Jedi holocron and the old Sith holocron. Williams says in the comments that he later figured out a combination for the Son and will reveal it in a followup video.

Star Wars’ New Holocrons May Hint At Ahsoka Season 2

The Mortis Gods Connect To Ahsoka’s Arc

Baylan kept hinting at a formidable power that he was seeking, and his discovery of the statues seemingly confirms that this power is connected to the Mortis gods. The Father, the Son, and the Daughter all died in The Clone Wars season 3, but as immensely powerful beings who embody different aspects of the Force, their deaths may not be as permanent as assumed, meaning Baylan or other characters still on Peridea, including Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Shin Hati, could encounter the Mortis gods in Ahsoka season 2.

There is also a possibility of Ahsoka‘s characters becoming a new manifestation of the Mortis gods. Ever since the Daughter sacrificed herself to save Ahsoka in The Clone Wars, the two characters have been closely linked, with the convor Morai being a reminder of this bond across several Star Wars shows, and most recently in the Ahsoka season 1 finale. Ahsoka becoming the Daughter may be part of her character’s endgame, and one of the narrative reasons she is left stranded on Peridea instead of returning to the known galaxy.

With Anakin Skywalker’s Force ghost appearing on Peridea in the closing moments of Ahsoka season 1’s ending, and his history with the Mortis gods, Anakin may potentially take on the role of the Father. As the Chosen One who brought balance to the Force in Return of the Jedi, there is something fitting about his Force ghost potentially continuing to fulfill this role. The new Galaxy’s Edge holocrons may just be a fun reference to unlock, but it could also signal the growing importance of the Mortis gods in Ahsoka season 2 and even more stories in the franchise.
