.X-Men’s Dazzler Is Finally Starring In Her Own Series Again

Alison Blaire debuted in 1980’s Uncanny X-Men #130 as a joint creation of Marvel Comics and Casablanca Records, meant to be introduced in comics and then utilized in multimedia adaptations, like TV shows and movies. Once the deal with Casablanca failed to materialize, Marvel moved forward with the Dazzler solo series, written by Tom DeFalco with art by John Romita Jr. Dazzler, a beloved disco queen, was revealed to also be a mutant, who could transform sound into light, stunning and injuring opponents. While at first resistant to becoming a member of the X-Men, Alison eventually relented, before becoming a major part of the X-Men’s “Outback Era,” and falling in love with the heroic Longshot.

The promotional image for Dazzler, which includes a gorgeously updated version of the character’s classic logo, teases, “Her world tour begins!” Simultaneously, Terry and Rachel Dodson’s gorgeous cover for Dazzler #1 depicts Alison in the performance zone, making another crowd fall in love with her. As Dazzler travels the world “spreading a message of love and acceptance”, the out-and-proud mutant will need to deal with anti-mutant bigots and a violent attack, spurned by the recent Fall of X. Standing beside Dazzler will be her head of security, Domino, her own Secret Service, Strong Guy, concert roadie Multiple Man, ferocious drummer Shark Girl, and masterclass publicist Wind Dancer.

Dazzler Deserves To Be In The Mutant Spotlight

The fabulous Dazzler is not only a classic X-Men hero, who has saved the world multiple times with her incredible mutant ability, but she has also played a key role in the X-Men’s fight against Orchis and Enigma. Krakoa selected Dazzler to be a member of their 3rd annual Krakoan X-Men team, but she was tragically murdered by Nimrod at the Hellfire Gala. Brought back by Rachel Summers in the White Hot Room, Alison joins the Dead X-Men to travel the Multiverse and help put a stop to Enigma and Moira MacTaggert.

The upcoming Dazzler series will also feature “all-new song lyrics from Ali’s notebook,” a delightful treat for anyone who is a fan of pop music and wants to sing along with Dazzler’s newest album. Dazzler hasn’t had a solo X-Men series since her original series ended in 1986, so this new Dazzler comic will surely shape the future of this beloved hero for years to come.
