In a world where the OG Rangers are all retired, they’re proven that evil doesn’t rest just because the Rangers of old decided to do so. Thankfully, there was always a contingency plan in place for such a scenario, thanks to Tommy Oliver.

That backup arrives in the form of Olivia Hart, the secret daughter of Tommy and Kimberly, who finally meets the rest of the original team in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #4 by Amy Jo Johnson, Matt Hotson, Nico Leon, Dono Sanchez-Almara, and Ed Dukeshire. The New Green Ranger Meets the OG Power Rangers

They Had No Idea Tommy and Kimberly Had a Child

Before their final mission against Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, Tommy and Kimberly managed to balance their lives as Power Rangers enough to get married. No one is aware that Kimberly is in the early stages of pregnancy at this time, besides her and Tommy. When Tommy is forced to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the world, he has his wife promise him to keep his Morpher safe for the right person when they’re ready. Olivia Hart emerges as that person 22 years later, when her mom is kidnapped by the daughter of Rita Repulsa. ​​​

The preview shows readers what happens moments after the conclusion of the second issue, where Selena Repulsa abducts Kimberly moments before Olivia arrives home. Sensing trouble, she uncovers Tommy’s old Morpher, and before she knows it, it’s Morphin Time. Following an admittedly disorienting trip to the Moon Palace for Olivia, it’s time for the final battle of the series. Of course, in the midst of it all, both Kimberly’s former teammates and Selena are shocked to see that the Pink Ranger has a daughter, one who is now the Green Ranger.

Whether the Power Rangers win, lose, or draw in this final battle, one must wonder if Olivia’s new membership into Rangerhood will be a permanent one, especially now that the others know that Kimberly has a daughter. One theme at the heart of this series has been legacy, whether it be Selena carrying the legacy of her mother or Olivia carrying that of her father. The series has to answer for what the state of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers legacy will be going forward, and if the elder Rangers will help the new Green Ranger carry that legacy into the future.
