LEGO has revealed their biggest set ever for The Lord of the Rings, a massive version of Barad-Dûr whose size dwarfs that of an already huge Rivendell set. Barad-Dûr is Sauron’s fortress in Mordor, where his all-seeing flaming eye looks down upon his land. The dark fortress is an important part of the Middle-earth setting, as it’s where the evil Lord resides as he attempts to regain his power by getting the One Ring back in his possession.

Now, LEGO has revealed an upcoming listing for LEGO, which features Sauron’s Barad-Dûr standing larger than any other set the company has made, including a Rivendell set.

The powerful Lord of the Rings villain’s set costs $460, having 5,471 pieces with dimensions of 83 centimeters tall, 44 centimeters wide, and another 36 centimeters deep. This nearly three-foot-tall structure also comes with 10 minifigures, as well as a gift-with-purchase bonus of a LEGO Fell Beast. The set goes on sale on June 1, 2024. Check out what the Barad-Dûr set looks like below:

Why The Barad-Dûr LEGO Set Is So Impressive

The 10 minifigures that come with the set include familiar faces like Frodo, Sam, Gollum, the Mouth of Sauron, and Sauron himself, alongside a variety of villainous characters. The set is made even more impressive when compared to LEGO’s $500 Rivendell set, which measures at a height of just 39 centimeters. While the other set boasts wider and deeper dimensions, alongside 15 minifigures and 6,167 pieces, the Barad-Dûr’s height of almost three feet is unmatched by the previous Elven setpiece.

The accuracy of the LEGO set is also quite clear, with Sauron’s Lord of the Rings appearance in both eye form and as a minifigure reminiscent of the film trilogy. This offers the character himself a larger role in the product, making it the perfect model for fans of the villain. Given the complexity of the tower itself, though, it makes the overall structure even more impressive as it turns even the smallest details into block form.

The set also comes right as The Lord of the Rings franchise begins to further expand, including a deeper focus on Sauron moving forward. This most notably includes The Rings of Power season 2, which will continue expanding on the Second Age of Middle-earth, including the Dark Lord’s slow rise to power. This new LEGO set compliments this development, also releasing within the perfect window alongside future media within the expanding fantasy franchise.
