Go! Go! Loser Ranger! returned from its unexpected break with an excellent episode that perfectly set the stage for episode #6 and beyond. As always, there’s plenty to be excited about with Go! Go! Loser Ranger!’s release, and that creates a lot of anticipation for episode #6’s upcoming premiere.

What Happened In Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Episode 5?

In Go! Go! Loser Ranger! episode #5, “Fighter D, as a Part of ‘Ranger Force’”, following the previous episode, D continued his infiltration of the Ranger Force disguised as Sakurama, although there were several complications that awaited him. Sakurama’s fellow cadets treated D as Sakurama with indifference at best and outright hostility at worst, something made even worse by D losing Sakurama’s notes on everyone, D was caught off guard by Sakurama’s sister, Sesera, being in the Pink Batallion, and worst of all, D discovered that Sakurama was secretly harboring a female Duster, Fighter XX.

XX was one of the Dusters who refused to bend to the Dragon Keepers, and with her allies dead, she’s resentful toward D and the other Dusters for their refusal to fight. Naturally, that created some tension between her and D, especially when D had to keep her quiet while convincing Sesera that it was okay for him to try and become a Ranger, but soon enough, D and XX were able to come to something of an understanding. The episode then ended with the reveal that Sesera is the Pink Keeper and secretly harbors an unhealthy obsession with Sakurama.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Makes Sakurama A Surprisingly Complex Hero

The biggest takeaway from Go! Go! Loser Ranger! episode #5 is how much complexity it adds to Sakurama’s character. At first, Sakurama seemed to be just a standard foil to D’s villainous nature, but between his sister being Pink Keeper, his desire to expose the corruption of the Ranger Force, and, most tellingly, Sakurama colluding with a Monster well before he met D, he’s far more complex than he initially seemed. It’s great that the Go! Go! Loser Ranger! anime has given Sakurama so much depth without even including him in the show, and hopefully, future episodes will follow suit.
