NBC has given a disappointing update for the release window of Suits: LA. Based in the same world of the long-running legal drama Suits, the latest spinoff is set to star Arrow’s Stephen Amell as the name partner in a Los Angeles-based law firm specializing in the entertainment industry. While the show has not yet been ordered to series, Amell revealed that he was returning to Canada to film the spinoff’s pilot episode in March 2024.

However, the latest details provided in NBC’s 2024-2025 schedule suggest that if Suits: LA is picked up for a full series order, it would either air later in the 2024-2025 season or even roll over to 2025-2026. NBC’s statement also reveals that these considerations are being applied to the pilot episode of Grosse Pointe Garden Society from Jenna Bans and Bill Kreb (Good Girls).

Can NBC Afford To Delay Suits: LA Premiere Date?

Late-2025/2026 Release Date Is Maybe Too Late For Suits: LA.

The latest revelation will likely come as a blow to viewers of the original Suits who want to see a quick return to the universe. Despite ending in 2019, the original series remains a favorite with viewers enamored by Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter and his fellow high-powered attorneys. Moreover, with Suits’ surprising resurgence on Netflix throughout much of 2023, interest in the new spinoff is currently at an all-time high.

Suits: L.A. will be the second spin-off of Suits, with a brand new cast and location set to expand the world established in the original series.

However, the revelation, that viewers may not get a chance to see Suits: LA until mid-2025 at the earliest, raises the question of whether NBC is potentially sacrificing the buzz generated by the original show’s record-breaking streaming streak. Consistently topping 2023’s streaming viewership charts and shattering records held by other major Netflix titles, such as Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Ozark, Suits‘ unexpected return to the spotlight was even what helped secure plans for the new pilot to begin with.

In the ever-changing television landscape, by the time audiences get a chance to see Suits: LA‘s debut, another show could come along to topple the franchise’s rarefied place in the record books. If Suits: LA is eventually ordered to series, and audiences are forced to wait for as long as a 2025 or 2026 release date, much of the franchise’s reignited interest could potentially go to waste.
