This article contains spoilers for FBI season 6.

FBI star Zeeko Zaki opens up about what’s next for OA and Maggie now that the hit CBS series has garnered a three-season renewal. Zaki as Special Agent Omar Adom “OA” Zidan and Missy Peregrym as Special Agent Maggie Bell have been with the FBI franchise since the very beginning. But in its most recent installment, both characters have faced their share of uphill battles, which will likely continue into season 7.

In an interview with Screen Rant‘s Rachel Foertsch, Zaki opened up about what he’d like to see for OA and Maggie in FBI season 7 and beyond, given that the series has nabbed a three-season renewal at CBS. Zaki mentioned that he looked forward to more scenes of OA and Maggie confiding in one another and sharing about their personal history. The actor also noted that the police drama would continue its focus on their personal relationships, in addition to bringing in new cases. Read his full comment below:

We learn about our pasts in real-time with the audience, and I think, just as much as the audience wants to learn more about the characters, so do I. If it goes into his family and his culture or his past, anything in that direction would be very exciting. Also, I just love when OA and Maggie get to dive into their personal worlds together and be there for each other. It’ll be exciting to see where all of the personal relationships go, along with all the new crimes that we’ll get the opportunity to hopefully solve.

It’s Been A Tough Season For Maggie & OA

Maggie’s On A Break While OA Reveals His Traumatic Past In Season 6.

In the FBI season 6 episode “No One Left Behind,” which is written by Peter Elkoff and directed by Monica Raymund, OA puts his life at risk to rescue a kidnapped Taliban member. It was a big case that even included the involvement of the FBI. But during the episode, OA comes forward with information that he’s never even shared with Maggie. During his time as an Army Ranger, OA says, he was a prisoner of war in Afghanistan.

OA tells this to his girlfriend Gemma (Comfort Clinton). It’s unclear whether he’ll open up to Maggie, who has been facing her own troubles. Maggie is shot during a risky mission, although she’s able to defend herself. In the same episode where OA opens up to Gemma, Maggie is on leave, and FBI Special Agent Tiffany Wallace (Katherine Renee Kane) fills in to take her place. Zaki has confirmed that Maggie will be back for the FBI season 6 finale, which airs May 21, and beyond.

Why Missy Peregrym Left FBI Twice (Only To Come Back Twice)

Missy Peregrym stars as Maggie Bell in FBI, but she was mysteriously missing from a good chunk of episodes in two seasons – why did Maggie leave?

FBI is co-created by Dick Wolf, who also produces the CBS hit and is behind Law & Order. Like that franchise, OA and Maggie’s potential romance echoes Stabler and Benson. Though their bond is platonic, it’s a thread that the popular procedural should be able to explore now that it’s garnered a rare three-season pickup.
