A reveal in the Cobra Kai season 6 trailer offers a way for the show to settle the Johnny vs. Daniel debate, even without a proper rematch. Though Daniel beat Johnny in The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai has been notably more ambiguous when it comes to comparisons between the characters’ fighting skills. The two have fought on more than one occasion in the Netflix sequel series, but none of these rematches outright proved one was superior to the other.

Their most recent fight, occurring in Cobra Kai season 4, initially came across as the epic match that would pick a winner once and for all, but it notably concluded with a convenient tie. And with Johnny and Daniel no longer at odds, the show may not feel the need to pit them against each other again. But with the show revisiting the final fight from The Karate Kid in the Cobra Kai season 6 trailer, there’s a chance that the show seeks to end with Johnny vs. Daniel. Of course, there’s no guarantee that will happen as of yet. But whether it does or not, the show still has a way of solving the series-long debacle.

Cobra Kai Can Prove Johnny Is The Better Fighter If He Beats Chozen

Cobra Kai created an alternate path toward choosing a better fighter between Johnny and Daniel by confirming a Johnny vs. Chozen fight for season 6. Considering that Daniel is shown officiating behind them, it does appear to be a legitimate sparring match, and not just a simple demonstration of a few karate moves. With this battle between two Karate Kid favorites clearly on the horizon, the series has an opportunity to let Johnny do what Daniel couldn’t in season 3: beat Chozen. Thanks to years of training, Chozen was able to avenge his loss to Daniel in The Karate Kid Part II with a decisive victory.

What was noteworthy about their rematch was that Chozen won with little difficulty, leaving no doubt that he was a better fighter than Daniel at this point in The Karate Kid timeline. Chozen’s easy win creates little confidence in Johnny’s chances, but that’s largely because he and Daniel are seen as equals. But if Johnny were to somehow defeat Chozen, he’d erase that narrative, and simultaneously make a solid case for himself as Cobra Kai’s best fighter.

Will Johnny & Daniel Fight Again In Cobra Kai Season 6?

Ralph Macchio as Daniel and William Zabka as Johnny in Cobra Kai

Of course, whatever happens between Chozen and Johnny in Cobra Kai season 6 could be rendered mute if a Johnny vs. Daniel rematch does happen. The shot of the two facing each other and bowing may have hinted at that possibility, but it’s important to note that neither was wearing their gis and would most likely dress in proper dojo attire for such a match-up. Plus, this gesture doesn’t necessarily signal a fight, as they also bowed to each other at the end of season 3 without fighting, for instance. Theoretically, Cobra Kai could avoid the match-up to be consistent with its depiction of the two as a duo who have moved on from their rivalry.
