Johnson was formerly known for his time with WWE but is now more well-known for his acting work in movies and TV shows. And while Johnson leans more toward action-packed projects, he’s also a softie for family-friendly Disney adventures. In fact, Johnson has been a part of more Disney works than fans realize.

The Game Plan (2007)

In 2007, Johnson landed the lead role in Disney’s The Game Plan. Johnson played professional football player Joe Kingman who was at the top of his game but his life came to a halt when he found out he had an 8-year-old daughter named Peyton.

As it turned out, Peyton’s mom passed away and Joe was the only person she could turn to. Watching Joe juggle being a bachelor and a single father made for an incredible movie. Young Madison Pettis (Peyton) was one of Johnson’s best co-stars because of how adorable she was.

Race To Witch Mountain (2009)

Johnson played Jack Bruno in Disney’s adaptation of Escape to Witch Mountain titled Race to Witch Mountain. Johnson portrayed an underrated badass character who was a former driver for a mob family. Now as a taxi driver in Las Vegas, Bruno was confused when two kids, Sara and Seth, gave him thousands of dollars to drop them off where no one could find them.

What followed was the discovery of alien spacecraft passengers, Men in Black, and special powers. The movie was exciting and action-packed while still being suitable for Disney’s younger audience.

Moana (2016)

Moana Theory Makes Mauis Entire Story Ridiculous

One of Johnson’s more pivotal roles was playing Maui in Moana. As a shape-shifting demigod, he was more serious than Moana and had powerful abilities that she didn’t possess. Viewers became obsessed with his tribal tattoos and confidence.

Johnson’s voice acting as Maui was superb. What was even better was his singing voice. Johnson had some of the best songs in Moana that still get stuck in fans’ heads today. With Moana being such a success at box offices, Johnson ended up winning multiple awards for his vocals.

Jungle Cruise (2021)

Jungle Cruise was one of Johnson’s more recent movies for Disney. Starring alongside Emily Blunt, Johnson portrayed a distrustful skipper named Frank Wolff.

As the movie rolled on, it came out that Frank wasn’t exactly who he said he was to the two adventurers who sought his guidance in the Amazon. His true identity was a plot twist for the entire movie and made him one of the best characters to follow. As a cursed cartographer living a life of immortality, Frank was ready for death and needed the help of Blunt’s character to do it.

Cory In The House (2007)

Cory in the House was a spinoff to Disney’s hit show That’s So Raven. The show focused on Cory’s new adventure with his dad when he is offered a new job as a chef in the White House. The series had a similar appeal to That’s So Raven but wasn’t as successful and only lasted for two seasons.

In the episode ‘Never the Dwayne Shall Meet,” Johnson played himself when the President of the United States invited him to the White House to be his new adviser for a national fitness program. The episode was especially sweet because Johnson was reunited with his The Game Plan co-star, Maddison Pettis.

Hannah Montana (2007)

Hannah Montana was one of Disney’s top shows. Starring Miley Cyrus, the series went on for four seasons and inspired two films. Fans are even hoping for a Hannah Montana reboot on Disney+. And while the TV show had plenty of guest stars, Johnson’s appearance was especially fun for viewers.

In the episode ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get the Phone,’ Johnson played himself and acted like he was in town for a new movie he had to shoot. As always, Miley and her best friend Lilly got into trouble when they tricked Johnson into getting a makeover, only to take an embarrassing photo of him. The episode was a fun one for fans to watch.

Wizards Of Waverly Place (2009)

Another Disney show that fans forgot Johnson was a part of was Wizards of Waverly Place. The show starred Selena Gomez (Alex Russo) as she and her siblings trained to be wizards like their father. Just like Hannah Montana and Cory in the House, Johnson appeared as himself in the fun episode ‘Art Teacher.’

When Alex’s brother Max pretended to have a disease called mono-orangosis, word got around and he gained media attention for it. Johnson (and other celebrities) visited him to see how he was doing with this rare condition. Hilariously, he learned that Max’s disease was made up and left the house.
