Apple is back with another boosted cashback promotion for the Apple Card, offering users the chance to earn six percent cashback on eligible purchases at Nike for a limited time. The Apple Card was first introduced in 2019, featuring transparent statements and disclosure of interest charges. Though a notable reason for using the credit card was its integration with iOS and Apple Pay, the Apple Card’s no-fee policy and daily cashback rewards outshine its technological features. Apple Card users earn cashback on every purchase made with the credit card, and the amount of cashback earned per purchase depends on a few factors.

Since Apple has spent the last few years expanding its portfolio of digital services — including Apple Pay and Apple Cash — it’s easy to get the Apple Card confused with the company’s other digital cards. The Apple Card is a credit card, which users apply for through the Wallet app. It also requires a credit check. The daily cashback earned from the Apple Card is loaded onto the Apple Cash Card each day, which also stores any Apple Cash. Unlike the Apple Card, the Apple Cash Card is available to anyone over the age of 18, and can store cash loaded from a checking account or sent through Apple Pay Cash. The Apple Cash Card works just like any Apple Pay-compatible credit card, and is accepted at any retailer that accepts Apple Pay.

Apple announced that its users would earn six percent cashback on Nike purchases — double the standard rate — in an email to cardholders on Sept. 1. A screenshot of the email was posted by user davidBehindAMac on Twitter. The company says that the promotion will last until Oct. 15, giving Apple Card users roughly a month and a half to take advantage of the deal. The collaboration is another in a long history of joint efforts between Apple and Nike, but it also signifies one of the best Apple Card promotions to date. Earlier this summer, Apple offered a double cashback deal for select retailers through the month of July, featuring brands like Stubhub and Ray-Ban. However, since these stores only qualify for two percent daily cashback regularly, the boosted amount was four percent cashback.

Purchases made at Nike earn a higher rate of three percent cashback year-round, so the double cashback amount winds up significantly higher at six percent. As with all Apple Card purchases, users must pay with Apple Pay to receive the highest amount of cashback. Any Apple Card user that shops at Nike using Apple Pay in-store, in the Nike app, or on the Nike online store will receive six percent cashback on their purchases. The daily cashback appears in the Wallet app at the end of each day. From there, users can use their earnings to make other purchases, send Apple Cash through iMessage, or transfer the cash to a bank account.

The amount of cashback earned for each purchase depends on how the Apple Card is being used, and where it is being used. There are promotions with the Apple Card that feature additional cashback for a limited time — like the Nike offering — and there are cashback offers that are valid year-round. Each purchase made with the Apple Card using Apple Pay earns two percent cashback, but the use of the physical titanium credit card lowers the amount of cashback to one percent. Select stores provide additional cashback offers, both through year-round and limited time deals. Apple is a great place to shop with an Apple Card, since it offers three percent cash back and interest-free financing options for purchases. There are other stores that provide three percent cash back all-year on the Apple Card, including Ace Hardware, Duane Reade, Walgreens, Exxon, Nike, Uber, T-Mobile, Mobil, Panera Bread, and Walgreens.
