5 Rom-Com Movies Taurus Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

When it comes to movies, there are three things Taureans love and will always cherish, beautiful cinematography and visuals, a solid storyline, and characters with solid values and character arcs.

What they value the most are characters that stay true to themselves and have strong values that can resonate even after the movie is over. Let’s look at some classic Rom-Coms that Tauruses will love and ones they will most likely skip.

LOVE: My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

5 Rom-Com Movies Taurus Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

Starting off the list is a lesser-known movie with a lesser-known cast but it is still a classic and a favorite for romance lovers. It follows a young woman anxious to break away from her intrusive and large Greek family. When she meets a charming man, the pair fall in love and decide to take their love to the next level. What ensues is the hilarity of a loud Greek family meeting a quiet and traditional American man.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a movie that not only promotes love and family, but also promotes staying true to yourself and loving each other despite coming from different backgrounds. A message a Taurus will surely love.

HATE: Love, Actually (2003)

This next movie is a rom-com classic full of a great cast and ideal chemistry for a romance movie. What the movie lacks and what might draw a Taurus away from watching the movie is the many storylines and subplots that take away from the whole movie.

It takes away from the character development and it keeps us from being invested in any particular story.

LOVE: 50 First Dates (2004)

This Adam Sandler classic features an all-star comedic cast and a unique plot that many find endearing to this very day. Adam Sandler plays a lonely and charismatic zoologist who falls in love with a young woman (Drew Barrymore) and attempts to make his move. When she doesn’t remember him the next day he realizes she has amnesia does he spends the whole movie attempting to charm her and win her heart every day.

For an Adam Sandler movie, it had a surprisingly strong message about optimism and working hard for the ones you love. It also shares the message to be who you are and not to change just to impress someone.

HATE: Isn’t It Romantic (2019)

The last few years have not been kind to the Rom-com genre and Isn’t It Romantic is a prime example. The plot of the movie is a general archetype for rom-com, a girl is cynical about love until she meets the right guy but she has to work for it and she learns some lessons about love along the way.

It also lacks interesting characters and solid chemistry between the stars of the movie. It had some funny moments but it was totally unforgettable.

LOVE: 27 Dresses (2008)

katherine heigl in 27 dresses

Katherine Heigl is the queen of Rom-coms, appearing in dozens of them throughout the early 2000s. In this movie, Heigl plays a personal assistant who is obsessed with weddings and true love, compiling up to 27 bridesmaid dresses.

Along the way, she learns important lessons and learns that as beautiful as love is, you have to work for it and it’s not always a fantasy. She makes a cynic fall in love while learning to stay true to herself.

HATE: Wedding Crashers (2005)

Wedding Crashers

This classic rom-c0m has everything a Taurus would love except the questionable and sleazy methods of the two main characters. Tauruses are lovers, they like the idea of a strong and long term relationship, they value beauty and falling love.

Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn spend a majority of the movie objectifying women and manipulating situations to get what they want. All things a Taurus does not like at all.

LOVE: 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Another classic and great Taurus flick that redefines the old boy meets girl and they fall in love plot. In this movie, the boy (Heath Ledger) works his tail off to get the cynic to fall in love with him. He’s charismatic, he’s committed and his work ethic proves to get the girl in the end.

It breaks the stereotype of girls always falling for the guy instantly and it teaches us to work for love and it’s just an overall great movie on the realism of love and relationships.

HATE: Don Jon (2013)

Don Jon isn’t a bad movie at all, it has a great cast, a unique plot, and a realistic outlook on love. It’s the type of love that keeps a Taurus from enjoying this movie.

Throughout the movie, the main protagonist (Joseph Gordon Levitt) spends the movie setting unrealistic standards for his next girlfriend and practically makes every date jump through hoops for his attention.

LOVE: Sleepless In Seattle (1993)

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle

the dream team of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan star in this long-distance love story about two unlikely lovers. It’s got amazing writing, character arcs, and people we can get behind.

What this movie teaches us how to make things work despite all the turmoil and how much it’s worth it for someone they love.

HATE: There’s Something About Mary (1998)

Ben Stiller in There's Something About Mary.

Most romcoms balance the romance and comedy pretty well and make both works for their plot. This movie missed that memo. It takes about half the movie to address the romance and even when it is addressed, the connection or the chemistry isn’t strong at all.

It’s not a real love movie and definitely one that a Taurus would most likely skip.
