5 Of The Saddest Movies That Will Make Pisces Cry (& 5 That Won’t)

The Pisces sign is a water sign. People born under this sign are very gentle and their presence is very relaxing. This sign also loves music and Pisces usually have some kind of musical gift, even if they haven’t discovered it yet, or they have a deep appreciation for other peoples’ musical gifts.

This sign is also prone to sadness. Because Pisces are so intuitive, they can feel what others are feeling easily, especially when the other signs they are around are feeling sad. A Pisces can pick up on that and even take on the emotion for themselves, which can actually help others or the Pisces find healing and happiness. For Pisces looking for a good cry, here are a few movies to check out, and a couple that won’t provoke any kind of deep emotion.

Cry: Coco

Disney Pixar’s Coco is a beautiful film about Mexico’s holiday, The Day of the Dead. This holiday falls on the day after Halloween and people who celebrate believe it’s the one day of the year that their loved ones from the other side can come back to visit them.

In this film, young Miguel goes on quite the adventure during the Day of the Dead celebration and what he discovers about his family and himself will bring any Pisces to tears.

Not: Good Will Hunting

This film, which was a breakout success for its writers and stars, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, is about a young man, Will, who gets himself in and out of trouble in South Boston frequently.

As punishment for breaking the law, he has to clean the halls of Harvard, where a professor at the school discovers that Will is incredibly gifted and intelligent. Will struggles a lot in this film, but so much of it is self-inflicted that a Pisces will find it difficult to relate to.

Cry: A Walk To Remember

This love story is one of the earlier films made that was based on a Nicholas Sparks’ romance novel. This love story is Jamie and Landon’s, two teenagers from different walks of life who fall in love after fate brings them together.

Jamie tells Landon from their first meeting not to fall for her. Jamie knows she has cancer and is afraid to let anyone in because she doesn’t want to hurt them. Watching Jamie and Landon fall in love, and then watching Landon lose her, will definitely make anyone, especially a Pisces, cry.

Not: Toy Story

Pisces aren’t prone to crying “happy tears.” When a Pisces is happy, they laugh and feel playful. The idea of crying from happiness may be confusing to most Pisces, which is why the happy ending from the first Toy Story film.

Honestly, no film in the franchise will provoke any kind of tearful reaction from a Pisces. If anything, Pisces will appreciate the resolution and the fact that there is a happy ending in this film.

Cry: My Girl

One scene in particular in this film will bring tears to any Pisces’ eyes. This coming of age dramatic feature film, starring a young Anna Chlumsky and a young Macaulay Culkin, is about Vada, and eleven-year-old girl growing up in Erie, Pennsylvania, who meets a friend named Thomas J.

These two friends seem to be attached at the hip, but after a tragic accident, Vada is dealt one of life’s hardest blows and learns that life can be really sad.

Not: Stepmom

Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts in Stepmom

This drama stars Julia Roberts as Isabel and Susan Sarandon as Jackie. After Jackie and her husband get divorced, Isabel comes into the picture and the two women struggle with the new family dynamic while both are trying to raise the two children, Anna and Ben.

When Jackie is diagnosed with cancer, things become even more complicated for the family. This film definitely has the potential to be a tear-jerker, but Pisces may be turned off from it because it is a little dated at this point.

Cry: Forrest Gump

Jenny and Forrest

One thing a Pisces can really appreciate is great art. Whether it is painting, music, writing, or film, a Pisces’ love for art definitely makes them more emotional.

The critically acclaimed, award-winning feature film, Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks in the title role, will not only impress a Pisces with its wonderful storytelling and execution, but it will make them cry because the performances are so grounded and real, making them very easy to find relatable.

Not: Marley And Me

Jenny playing with Marley in Marley and Me

Marley and Me is a very sweet film, based on the book by the same name, about a family who adopts a puppy and deems him “the worst dog in the world.” Despite all of Marley’s “quirks” the family loves him unconditionally and sticks by him until the very end.

This film makes a lot of people cry because so many folks, including Pisces, have a soft spot for dogs, but Pisces probably won’t find this movie very sad because by the end there is nothing to cry about. Marley lives a great life with a great family, so really, the ending isn’t very sad from a Pisces’ perspective.

Cry: A Star Is Born

Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga play music on stag in A Star is Born.

The fourth remake of this classic film, directed by and starring Bradley Cooper and also starring Lady Gaga, will definitely make a Pisces cry. This film tells the story of two musicians, one famous rockstar, Jackson Maine, and the woman he falls for, Ally.

The chemistry these two characters have is palpable and their love story is very easy to get wrapped up in as the film goes on, which makes the ending incredibly devastating, especially to a Pisces who feels so much for other people.

Not: Steel Magnolias

This film received a lot of critical and fan praise when it was first released, but might be a little too dated for a Pisces to find entertaining. The film tells the story of a group of women in a small town in the South, dealing with everything life throws their way, and doing it together.

When tragedy strikes one of the women in particular, they all come together to mourn. Pisces will like the community in this film but may want something a little more current to cry to on movie night.
