5 Musical Movies Pisces Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

5 Musical Movies Pisces Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

The Pisces sign is one of the most musical signs in the zodiac. Most people born under this sign have some kind of natural gift when it comes to music and they find themselves very drawn to creating music and understanding all the different types of musical expression.

The Pisces sign is also very intuitive and empathetic, making other forms of artistic expression easy for them to pick up and understand. It’s safe to say that most Pisces already have a list of favorite musical movies, but here a few titles to check out and a couple more to avoid.

Love: The Last Five Years

5 Musical Movies Pisces Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

The Pisces sign loves a good love story, especially if that love story is told through music. Jason Robert Brown’s musical, The Last Five Years, was made into a film in 2014 and stars Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.

In the film, Kendrick and Jordan do all of the singing live, which is impressive considering that the entire musical contains almost no dialogue and the story is told almost entirely through songs from these two characters.

Hate: Pitch Perfect

This is an Anna Kendrick musical movie that most Pisces won’t enjoy watching.

Though the actress is a great singer and performer, the music in this movie appeals more to a younger crowd, heavily influenced by Top 40 hits and pop culture. There are a few cool mash-ups and Accapella numbers that may impress a Pisces, but for the most part, this film is more about the comedy and mainstream appeal and less about the art and music in the story it’s trying to tell.

Love: Dreamgirls

In 2006, DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures teamed up to adapt this 1980’s Broadway musical into a hit feature film. The story is based around the Motown era of music and is inspired by the female group, The Supremes.

The original music in this movie is incredible and the performers give every song everything they have, which creates some really special moments on-screen for any Pisces to appreciate.

Hate: Rent

Because the Pisces sign is so sensitive and intuitive, they struggle to watch injustice, cruelty, or any kind of unfair treatment. The musical Rent, which was turned into a movie in 2005 and brought back most of the original Broadway actors to reprise their roles, is probably not something that will appeal to most Pisces.

It tells an important story, but a hard story and it seems every character in this musical suffers in some way, which would be difficult for a Pisces to find entertaining.

Love: Les Miserables

This is another musical movie where all the actors are singing live. This musical has extremely difficult numbers in it and the fact that such a star-studded cast could execute the music as well as they did and sing everything live, is pretty incredible.

Most Pisces will be in awe of the performances in this film and can understand how it was so well-received by critics upon its release and given so many award nominations that year.

Hate: Anastasia

Anastasia is an animated musical feature film that is based on the true story of the Romanov family and the legends surrounding the youngest daughter in the family, Anastasia.

The film does a great job of bringing such a tragic story to a younger audience through animation and musical numbers, but most Pisces won’t be able to appreciate it because the true story this film is based on is so sad and cruel.

Love: The Phantom Of The Opera

The Phantom of the Opera, is a musical from the legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Weber. This musical has been a hit on Broadway since the late ’80s and gained numerous awards before being made into a feature film starring Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler in 2004.

The Pisces sign will be able to appreciate this musical movie for it’s incredible storytelling and the classic songs executed brilliantly by the talented cast.

Hate: High School Musical

When it comes to art and entertainment, the Pisces sign has very elevated tastes. People born under this sign gravitate toward high-quality productions and complex storylines and characters.

They are more likely to watch every film nominated for an Academy Award and less likely to watch the trending movie of the week, which is why a film like Disney’s teen musical, High School Musical, won’t appeal to most Pisces.

Love: Enchanted

Enchanted

Though most Disney feature films won’t appeal to the average Pisces, Enchanted, starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey is one of the few exceptions. The original music in this film is great and the musical numbers are really impressive in terms of production value and execution.

The script is also very witty and the number of times viewers genuinely laugh at a line or a character will surprise more Pisces in a very pleasant way.

Hate: Bohemian Rhapsody

Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody

Though this movie garnered a lot of critical acclaim and numerous award nominations the year it was released, including a Best Actor nomination and win at the Academy Awards for the film’s star, Rami Malek, the biggest problem any Pisces will have with this film is that Malek is lip-syncing through it.

The story is about Queen’s lead singer, Freddie Mercury, who had an incredible and unique voice, which is why Malek had to lip-sync and couldn’t perform the music live. It’s understandable, but will definitely turn some Pisces off from watching the film.
