5 Musical Movies Gemini Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

The Gemini sign has always been referred to as “the twins” because most people born under this sign have very two distinct sides to their personality. Most Geminis are very curious and gentle by nature and they love learning new ideas and have an incredible ability to exchange their own ideas and give other signs different perspectives.

At the same time, Geminis can be very shy and nervous is a group setting and it takes most of Geminis a while to warm up to new social situations, but as soon as they do, they are the life of the party. Geminis love art and books and discovering new films. For Geminis looking to check out a few musicals, here are some great titles to look for, and some to avoid.

Love: Hamilton

5 Musical Movies Gemini Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

The Gemini sign likes to learn new things and especially loves it if their curiosity allows them to uncover, not only new facts, but new perspectives on things they already thought they knew.

A musical like the massive hit, Hamilton, is something every Gemini should watch on Disney+ because they most likely already know a lot of the history in the story, but this story really allows its audience to see things from a different perspective.

Hate: Burlesque

The Gemini sign may be able to appreciate the amount of talent in this film, but it lacks the thought-provoking storylines and original ideas that people born under the Gemini sign usually need when watching or discovering something new.

Most Geminis will struggle to keep an open mind with this film, due to its lack of originality and the fact that it relies so heavily on the musical numbers to keep their audience entertained.

Love: Jersey Boys

Geminis love history and learning about other people and the great things they did. A biographical musical is definitely something any Gemini will enjoy watching.

One of the best biographical musicals in the last few years is the jukebox musical, Jersey Boys. This musical, directed by Clint Eastwood, tells the story of The Four Seasons, who rose to fame in the 1950s. Two of the groups most famous members, Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio serve as producers on the film.

Hate: Singing In The Rain

Though this musical is a classic and stars some of Hollywood’s most legendary actors, Debbie Reynolds and Gene Kelly, most Geminis will struggle with the storyline.

People born under the Gemini sign may want to see this movie because of its status as one of the most influential and classic films ever made, but it’s obviously very outdated and there aren’t many new ideas or inspirations to be gained from watching it.

Love: The Last Five Years

Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan in The Last Five Years

This Jason Robert Brown musical turned feature film is one that Geminis will enjoy watching because the story is told in such a unique way. The musical tells the story of Cathy and Jamie, who meet, fall in love, marry, and then divorce.

The film is told in two separate storylines, with Cathy’s story beginning at the end of the relationship and working backward and Jamie’s story beginning at the start of the relationship and moving forward.

Hate: Mamma Mia

Amanda Seyfried as Sophie in Mamma Mia

This is one jukebox musical feature film Geminis should avoid. This movie takes the music of the popular ’70s group, ABBA and weaves it into a storyline, that doesn’t make a lot of sense.

A woman named Sophie is about to get married and desperately wants her father to walk her down the aisle, but she doesn’t know who her father is, so she sends a letter to the three men she thinks it is, hoping to narrow it down before her big day.

Love: Into The Woods

The Gemini sign loves to read. Most Geminis carry a book in their bag or always seem to have a recommendation for anyone asking. For this reason, Geminis will definitely love the Stephen Sondheim musical turned musical movie, Into the Woods, because this story is based on some of the most famous fairytales, except it takes those tales and combines them into one big story.

This film re-imagines the classic stories we group up hearing and Geminis will love it.

Hate: La La Land

Though this is an original musical from director Damian Chazelle, most Geminis will struggle with its lack of originality. In this musical, Sebastian and Mia are two struggling artists in Los Angeles who meet and fall in love.

It’s a tale as old as time about how difficult it is to maintain any kind of romantic relationship if you’re pursuing your big dreams because inevitably, it becomes almost impossible to give your all to both of those things.

Love: Les Miserables

Geminis love epic works of art. They are typically attracted to classic books and stories and love big productions, especially ones based on historical events and people.

The musical turned epic feature film, Les Miserables is something most Geminis can appreciate because it shows real struggles in 18th century France and one character is particular is loosely based on Eugène-François Vidocq, who was a French criminal who turned his life of crime into one of anti-crime.

Hate: Rent

When Rent first premiered on Broadway in the ’90s it was a massive success. Critics and fans alike praised the show for its originality and raw storytelling.

Today, it’s considered one of the more overdone musicals and though some of its core themes are still relatable, Geminis may find a lot of the characters difficult to relate to. The movie, which brought make much of the original cast, was released in 2005 and didn’t garner nearly as much praise at the staged musical did when it was released.
