5 Missing Worlds Super Mario Bros 2 Can Include

The Super Mario Bros. Movie introduced exciting worlds to movie-going audiences everywhere, but The Super Mario Bros. 2 can include five more interesting worlds. The Super Mario Bros. Movie smashed its way into theaters on Wednesday, April 5th, earning back its budget and then some before the Easter weekend came to a close. The Super Mario Bros. Movie follows gamers’ favorite Italian plumber duo as they are sucked into the magical worlds of the Super Mario universe. Full of Easter eggs from the game, The Super Mario Bros. Movie provides an experience like the actual gameplay which fills 90s children everywhere with nostalgic joy.

Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros.’ universe is rich and full of many different worlds. However, The Super Mario Bros. Movie only scratched the surface of what this universe has to offer. The Super Mario Bros. Movie visits important worlds from the game, such as the Mushroom Kingdom and Bowser’s Kingdom. On Mario and Peach’s journey to the Jungle Kingdom, the audience sees parts of other worlds, such as the Dry Dry Desert and Yoshi’s Island. Since The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a financial hit, it is likely that fans are going to be blessed with The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2.

5 Daisy’s Cruiser

5 Missing Worlds Super Mario Bros 2 Can Include

Princess Peach (Anna Taylor-Joy) plays a pivotal role in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, aiding Mario in his search for his brother. However, there isn’t any mention of her best friend, Princess Daisy of Sarasland. Daisy first appeared in 1989’s Super Mario Land and was rumored to be a love interest for Luigi, which was later confirmed by Nintendo. In Mario Kart, Daisy has a cruise ship, which is also a spot for leisurely activities, such as golf or tennis for the Mario characters.

Since Daisy became a staple character in Mario Tennis, the Daisy Cruise Line can also showcase a sports show in Super Mario Bros. 2. Not only would this give the audience a chance to see these larger-than-life characters in a relaxed setting, it would also provide room for character development. This was something that The Super Mario Bros. Movie, unfortunately, lacked a great deal of.

4 Wario’s Stadium

Nintendo's Wario and Waluigi alongside Mario from The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Not only did The Super Mario Bros. Movie leave out Princess Peach’s best friend Daisy, but it left out Mario’s rivals Wario and Waluigi. To introduce these characters, Super Mario Bros. 2 can visit Wario’s Stadium which would allow for more fun Mario Kart action. The Super Mario Bros. Movie gave fans an homage to the Mario Kart games with courses, such as Rainbow Road. The Super Mario Bros. Movie would be smart to continue this trend with another course from Mario Kart, Wario’s Stadium.

Wario’s Stadium would be a perfect place to introduce one of Mario’s main arch-rivals, it could also give Wario a cool entrance in his kart. As far as drama goes, Wario is a great foil to Mario and to add him to the Mario cannon will help bring in gamers as well as new fans. A good actor could also provide a compelling villain to Chris Pratt’s Mario.

3 Delfino Plaza

Delfino Plaza Super Mario Sunshine

First introduced in Super Mario Sunshine, Delfino Plaza is the main hub of Isle Delfino where Mario, Peach, and Toad go to vacation. Many different worlds can be accessed from Delfino Plaza in the game, such as Gelato Beach and Ricco Harbor. Super Mario Bros. 2 visiting this world can give the characters a chance for some leisure, before the main conflict arises in the sequel.

Not only would Delfino Plaza bring a tropical feeling to the universe, it would provide a different tone than the first film. While The Super Mario Bros. Movie appears to be a success with audiences of all ages, a sequel treading the same territory as the first can lead to a lackluster follow-up. Giving the sequel an entirely new setting, Isle Delfino can give the sequel a distinctly different feel.

2 Moon Kingdom

Moon Kingdom Super Mario Odyssey

In Super Mario Odyssey, the Moon Kingdom hosts the climax of the game. The kingdom is also home to Honeylune Ridge and a large wedding chapel where Boswer attempts to wed Peach. While Bowser does attempt to marry Peach in Super Mario Bros, Peach stops the wedding herself, claiming that she never had any intention of marrying him. In Super Mario Odyssey, Mario crashes the wedding.

While Mario visited the sky in Rainbow Road, for Mario and his friends to enter space to go to the Moon Kingdom would give video game fans nostalgia as well as give the audiences something dazzling to look at. The Moon Kingdom is one of the most memorable parts of Super Mario Odyssey, which would translate easily to cinema. Also, visiting the Moon Kingdom can lead Mario and his friends further into space.

1 Space Galaxies

If Mario is going to travel to the Moon Kingdom, he might as well also travel the galaxies in the Super Mario Universe. In Super Mario Galaxy, Mario travels on a spaceship and explores different galaxies in space. Expanding beyond the Moon Kingdom, these space galaxies also allow Mario and his friends to visit different planets which can bring a number of different scary but also humorous situations.

Not only are the possibilities with Space Galaxies infinite, but this could give Super Mario Bros. 2 an exciting backdrop. After all, Nintendo has made a fortune on nostalgia and fantasy, to lean into this element would only strengthen the sequel. While an official sequel has not been announced, The Super Mario Bros. Movie will continue to entertain audiences as it plays in theaters everywhere.
