5 Characters We Hope Get Eaten in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

5 Characters We Hope Get Eaten in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, offering a glimpse at the upcoming sequel to Colin Trevorrow’s record-breaking 2015 film, Jurassic World. A Monster Calls helmer J.A. Bayona took over directing duties for the sequel, with Trevorrow returning as Fallen Kingdom‘s screenwriter, and the duo are looking to expand the Jurassic Park franchise while potentially laying the groundwork for another Jurassic World film (and sixth Jurassic movie overall).

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their Jurassic World roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively, in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, with B.D. Wong coming back as Dr. Henry Wu and Jeff Goldblum finally returning as Dr. Ian Malcolm, whom he last played in Steven Spielberg’s 1997 Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The film also features plenty of franchise newcomers.

Of course, with all the carnivorous lizards running around it’s all but guaranteed that someone’s going to meet a toothy end. Nothing against the actors and actresses themselves, but we hope these five characters meet their fate via dinosaur in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

5. Dr. Henry Wu

B.D. Wong reprised his Jurassic Park role as Dr. Henry Wu in Jurassic World, helping engineer the Indominus Rex, but that wasn’t the extent of his involvement. Apparently, he’s secretly working with Vic Hoskins to turn dinosaurs into military weapons, something that will be further explored in Fallen Kingdom. Surely his turn to wickedness places him in the must-die category? If so, then we suggest his death come via velociraptor – a classic Jurassic Park fate for the unscrupulous.

4. Claire Dearing

Claire’s tenure running Jurassic World is arguably what contributed to the park’s collapse, so perhaps her being eaten because of her recklessness in the first movie could serve as a kind of atonement. However, Claire’s chances of being eaten (or, at least dying) in Fallen Kingdom are very unlikely, seeing as she’s one of the two main characters in Universal’s new trilogy – and almost no main characters have ever died in one of these movies before.

3. Benjamin Lockwood

James Cromwell is joining the Jurassic World sequel as Benjamin Lockwood, one of John Hammond’s former partners who helped the eccentric billionaire develop the technology for cloned dinosaurs. So far, we’ve only seen two corporate leaders bite the dust: Peter Ludlow (Arliss Howard) and Simon Masrani (Irrfan Khan). Masrani’s death, though heroic, was ultimately underwhelming. Fallen Kingdom should take things to the next level. It would be almost fitting if Cromwell’s character met his end the same way Hammond died in Michael Crichton’s original story, falling down a hill, breaking his ankle, and then being swarmed by a pack of Procompsognathus.

2. Dr. Ian Malcolm

Jeff Goldblum starring in Fallen Kingdom may present the perfect opportunity to kill off the famed chaotician. As previously said, no main character from the Jurassic Park franchise has ever died on-screen before. Of course, prominent supporting cast members have perished – such as Dr. Arnold and Vic Hoskins, among others – and since Dr. Malcolm is joining the movie in a supporting role, perhaps now is the best time to give the character a proper send-off.

1. Any annoying children

Each installment in the Jurassic Park franchise has included at least one child actor, and for the most part they’ve been pretty annoying. With the exception of the original film’s stars, each child star in the movies has gotten themselves into trouble and into harm’s way, thus making things significantly more perilous for the main characters. Although they’ve all survived thus far, that could all change with Fallen Kingdom if Bayona does, indeed, bring the series back to its horror-esque roots.
