2024’s New Transformers Movie Can Finally Redeem A 38-Year Franchise Low Point

2024’s New Transformers Movie Can Finally Redeem A 38-Year Franchise Low Point

The Transformers film series grows with every passing year, and a new movie that aims to make up for a 38-year-old disappointment in the franchise is set to premiere in 2024. The multimedia franchise began with a toy line in the 1980s, and its rapidly growing popularity quickly resulted in the production of comic books, video games, television shows, and movies (both animation and live-action). Its popularity spiked again in 2007 with the launch of the Transformers film series, which has produced seven movies, with another coming in 2024 that returns the franchise to its roots.

Although the upcoming Transformers film is technically a standalone project not connected to the previous seven movies, it is still classified as an installment in the series. It exists outside the established canon and will differentiate itself from the other films through its story, cast, and style. However, the 2024 movie will serve as a callback to the Transformers franchise’s early days and try to succeed where one 1980s film failed.

Transformers’ Return To Animation In 2024 Will Be Much Better Than The Transformers: The Movie

2024’s New Transformers Movie Can Finally Redeem A 38-Year Franchise Low Point

Transformers One releases on September 13, 2024, and signals the franchise’s return to animation following the failure that was The Transformers: The Movie in 1986. The 38-year-old animated science fiction action film was directed by Nelson Shin and written by Ron Friedman and was a continuation of The Transformers, the 1984 animated television show. It took place 20 years following the events of the season 2 finale, and, unfortunately, the 1986 film was not received well by critics or audiences because of its controversial plot. However, the people behind the upcoming 2024 project aim to redeem the former movie’s shortcomings.

Transformers One should be able to avoid the same mixed to negative reviews that The Transformers: The Movie received in the 1980s. Of course, the animation in the 2024 film will improve upon the 1986 movie’s animation. But given that those most critical of The Transformers: The Movie were upset with the plot, Transformers One must learn from the previous film’s mistakes and manufacture an intriguing and thrilling story.

The good news is that Transformers One will undoubtedly be able to overcome The Transformers: The Movie‘s box office. The 1986 animated project only grossed $5.8 million worldwide against a $5-6 million budget, making it a box office bomb. Although no one can say for certain, there is likely around a 99.99 percent chance that the upcoming Transformers film can beat the previous movie’s box office (and will probably do so in one night).
