1923’s Spencer & Alexandra Romance Explained

1923 Star Teases Spencer & Alexandra’s Harrowing Journey To Montana

Though Jacob and Cara Dutton are at their home in Montana, their son Spencer opted to be a hunter in Africa after fighting in World War I. Spencer is an emotionally raw character, but he takes solace in his newly-found relationship with an engaged British tourist named Alexandra. Alexandra becomes enamored by Spencer’s free-spirit, adventure-seeking ways, so she calls off her previous engagement to join him on his escapades. The two grow closer together over time, with Spencer eventually proposing to Alexandra. She accepts the proposal, but she has second thoughts after the dramatic jaguar attack.

After the attack, Alexandra starts to worry about her safety and future if she remains involved with Spencer. She shares her concerns about living such a threatening life, which prompts her to demand that Spencer finds a new line of work that won’t put their lives in danger. She doesn’t break off her new engagement, though, and Spencer, out of love for Alexandra, agrees to find a new job. So, despite the dramatic events of the attack, the two decide to stay together. Sklenar’s comments foreshadow more turmoil for them, though, on their way back to Montana. It’s certain to be a long and arduous trek, which could put their lives at further risk.

The attack has put the entire family’s well-being and future at stake, which makes Spencer’s imminent return a well-timed one for the family, though Alexandra’s reaction to more violence could be a negative one. 1923 will return for episode 5 on February 5, with the rest of the episodes set to release weekly.
