HBO is known for its prestige television, and the network has announced its 2024 lineup, but there are a few shows noticeably missing from the list. HBO had a big year in 2023, with the conclusion of the popular series Succession and Barry, as well as the premiere of The Last of Us. Euphoria season 3 is one of HBO’s most-anticipated releases. Season 2 premiered at the beginning of 2022, and viewers were hoping to see Zendaya’s Rue and the rest of the Euphoria teens back on the screens in 2024. And Just Like That… might have given Carrie her best ending yet, but HBO confirmed the Sex and the City reboot will return for season 3. The Righteous Gemstones season 4 was also expected to return in 2024, but HBO hasn’t included it in its 2024 lineup. On June 18, 2023, HBO announced The Righteous Gemstones was renewed for season 4, but since it happened during the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, production couldn’t start. The first season premiered in 2019, with the second and third arriving in 2022 and 2023, respectively. HBO hasn’t confirmed its release date for 2024, so it’s most likely it will return in 2025.

Duster may now be looking at a 2025 release date, as it’s not included in the network’s 2024 lineup.

Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal was renewed in 2022, yet there is no official information about its release date. The first season received critical acclaim when it premiered in 2022, with HBO hurrying to give it another season. However, the docu-comedy doesn’t appear on HBO’s 2024 release slate. The Rehearsal is created, written, and directed by Nathan Fielder, who also stars in it. It could realistically return in 2025.

The Peacemaker Spinoff Is On The Horizon
James Gunn announced in February that Peacemaker season 2 will premiere after Waller, a spinoff starring Amanda Waller, the head of the A.R.G.U.S. The spinoff Waller is set between Peacekeeper seasons 1 and 2, and some reports claimed it was eyeing a 2024 release date (via Variety). With Gunn confirming the true start of his DCEU would be 2025’s Superman: Legacy, Waller might actually premiere in 2025, as HBO didn’t include the series in its 2024 lineup video. That means John Cena’s Peacemaker will also be pushed back to 2025 or later. However, Gunn could surprise audiences and still release Waller in 2024.

The Peacemaker spinoff Waller isn’t the only James Gunn production coming out in the near future. The former Marvel director and current co-chairperson and CEO of DC Films is pulling all the strings. He confirmed the plan to release Creature Commandos, an animated series, in 2024. However, HBO hasn’t included it in its 2024 lineup. However, it might still happen in 2024, as James Gunn debunked the Creature Commandos delay rumor for 2025, offering hope that the audience will get to meet the Creature Commandos characters on schedule.

Game Of Thrones Is Getting Another Spinoff
House of the Dragon will return with season 2 in 2024, premiering during the summer. However, the Game of Thrones franchise has a lot to offer, and there’s another spinoff in the works: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The two spinoffs shouldn’t share any cast members, as too much time passes between House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. There’s no release date for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, and since it has been affected by the SAG-AFTRA strikes, a 2025 premiere is more realistic. HBO didn’t include it on the 2024 release slate.
