At Disney’s 2020 Investor Day, a bunch of movies and TV series were confirmed to be in development for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Avengers: Endgame felt like a satisfying series finale episode, the story of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is far from over. The team disbanded following Thanos’ defeat in Endgame, but they’ll be back.
There’s one theory that the dozens of superheroes left in Tony Stark’s wake will split up into separate teams like the Dark Avengers and the West Coast Avengers. One of these teams could be the Young Avengers, whose MCU introduction has been all but confirmed by the upcoming slate.
Kate Bishop Taking On The Mantle Of Hawkeye
Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld have recently been sharing photos from the set of Disney+’s Hawkeye series, which will star Renner as Clint Barton and Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, the young archer he will train to take over his mantle.
In the comics, Kate is one of the leaders of the Young Avengers, so it’s no surprise that she’ll be the first young hero introduced into the MCU ahead of rounding out the team.
Ms. Marvel’s Introduction
Filming commenced back in November on Disney+’s upcoming Ms. Marvel series, which will introduce Kamala Khan to the MCU. Kamala will likely be a key figure in the Young Avengers if they join the franchise.
It’s already been confirmed that after starring in her own series, which is set to release on the Mouse House’s streaming service, Iman Vellani will reprise her role as Kamala in Captain Marvel 2.
Cassie Lang Becoming Stature
The third Ant-Man movie was recently revealed to be titled Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It was also announced that Kathryn Newton will play Cassie Lang in the threequel, replacing Endgame’s Emma Fuhrmann in the role.
The casting of a bigger star like Newton in the role — in addition to being unfair to Fuhrmann, who found out she was being replaced when everyone else did — hints that Cassie is taking on her superhero alter ego, Stature.
Ironheart’s Introduction
When Robert Downey Jr. left the MCU, he endorsed Ironheart to be Tony Stark’s replacement. In the comics, Riri Williams is a successor to Iron Man who came from far less money. She had to break into a university lab to create her armor, but once she was out there fighting crime, she got a similar endorsement from Tony himself.
Marvel announced an Ironheart series among many other projects at Disney’s Investor Day, with Dominique Thorne confirmed to be playing the MCU’s incarnation of Riri.
Loki’s Multiverse Adventures
There have been a ton of crazy announcements about the Loki series, like Owen Wilson’s co-starring role and the fact that the God of Mischief will be revealed to be the real D.B. Cooper.
With the series exploring Loki’s post-Endgame adventures across the multiverse and the Time Variance Authority’s attempts to police the fabric of reality, it could introduce a few alternate versions of the trickster god, including Kid Loki, one of the Young Avengers.
Harley Keener Could Become Iron Lad
The surprise appearance of Harley Keener lingering around Tony Stark’s funeral in Avengers: Endgame could’ve been a hint that he’d have a larger role going forward.
As Tony’s protégé before Peter Parker, Harley could become Iron Lad, one of the leaders of the Young Avengers. In fact, after Peter took his place as Tony’s mentee, maybe Harley will be jealous and become an evil Iron Lad.
Kang The Conqueror
Maybe it won’t be Harley Keener who takes on the mantle of Iron Lad. A few different characters have held the title in the comics, including Kang the Conqueror.
It was recently announced that Kang will be joining the MCU in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Perhaps he’ll become Iron Lad instead.
Morgan Stark
It seems unlikely that Morgan Stark will grow up and not follow in her father’s footsteps. In her very first appearance in Endgame, she was wearing the helmet from Pepper’s Rescue suit.
She’s only five years old in the MCU’s timeline, so her superhero career could be a long time away, but by the time she’s ready to don a high-tech suit of armor, the Young Avengers will be up and running.
America Chavez’s Introduction
In addition to being Marvel Comics’ first Latin-American LGBTQ character to headline her own series, America Chavez is an integral member of the Young Avengers. In particular, she’s closely tied to Kate Bishop.
Chavez has been confirmed to make her live-action debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, in which she’ll be played by Xochitl Gomez.
Wiccan And Speed Are In WandaVision
While it hasn’t been 100% confirmed and casting still has yet to be announced, WandaVision will revolve around Scarlet Witch becoming a mother. Two cribs could be seen in the WandaVision teaser.
This hinted that the series will introduce Wanda’s twins, who took on the superhero alter egos of Wiccan and Speed, and joined the Young Avengers when they grew up.
