Netflix’s Ozark is without doubt one of the best ongoing shows at the moment. With its intricate character development and ever-twisting storyline, viewers are left guessing about how the show is going to finally end. There are still a ton of questions left unanswered in Ozark, especially with the series coming to an end.
Ozark season 4 part 2 is just around the corner and the fans are more excited than ever. At the end of the last part, the showrunners introduced some surprising storylines which could take the show in a lot of different directions.
Ruth’s Revenge
The final episode of season 4 part 1 set Ruth Langmore on a revenge path after the death of her brother – she was last seen driving after swearing to get her revenge. But with this revenge being directed toward the cartel, anything could happen to her character.
We know that no one is safe in Ozark, so it is really up in the air whether she will be able to get her revenge or meet her end before that. JoshK87 says, “Obviously she seems to be setting herself up for a suicide mission at the end of part 1,” and predicts that Ruth will most probably die while going down this path. Ruth has had one of the best character arcs in Ozark, so fans are looking forward to seeing the conclusion of her story and can only hope that the series does her justice.
What Actually Happened to Ben?
Many seasoned TV lovers know that unless something is explicitly shown on-screen, viewers should be cautious to believe it actually happened. This line of thinking certainly applies to Ben’s death in Ozark. His body wasn’t shown to be cremated and on top of that, the assassin was never really shown to make contact with Ben when Wendy left him at the diner.

The Redditor proposes that Ruth will finally get to know that he is alive but may end up dying herself before she is able to see him. What Will Happen To Zeke?
Zeke was last seen next to Ruth as she was driving away to get her revenge on the cartel. A lot of viewers pointed out that she should have at least dropped him off at the Byrde’s when she knew that she was going on a suicide mission. A lot of people also think that Zeke might end up dying as a result of some crossfire between Ruth and the cartel.
remmij says that, “I was shaking my head wondering why she took Zeke without calling the police.” The user also points out that as soon as the social services and the local police find out that Zeke is with Ruth, and given her past history with Darlene, it is possible that she might be framed for her murder as well.
Marty’s Luck Might Finally Run Out
Long-time Ozark fans know that Marty Byrde has been insanely lucky since season 1. A lot of characters have been killed off for way less. The way Ozark is going on and the fact that the Byrdes seem to be as evil as the cartel at this point, a lot of viewers think that Marty dying at the end would be some sort of poetic justice.
GlisteningGlorificu suggests, “I can’t imagine anyone getting a happy ending except maybe the Byrde children,” meaning that the rest of the family may meet a grisly end.
The Javi-Charlotte Storyline
During the dinner scene in season 4 part 1, it was hinted that Javi was interested in Charlotte, of course, to the Byrde parent’s dismay. But there must be some reason why this was hinted at by the show creators, especially during the last season where no screen time can be wasted.
It will be interesting to see whether Wendy uses Javi’s interest against him in the final part or if Javi actually tries to pursue Charlotte. Javi will go down as one of the best Ozark villains. Despite appearing in just 7 episodes, he has left a lasting impact on all the characters and is vital for the ending of the series. What is the PI’s Storyline Leading to?
Mel, the private investigator who was supposedly hired to look into the disappearance of Helen Pierce, has had a surprising amount of screen time this season. He was also shown to make a call to FBI Agent Maya, but the show did not disclose what the call was about.
JoshK87 believes that Mel was actually hired to look into the Byrde Family and Helen Pierce was just a farce. This also makes sense when considering that Mel never once actually talked to Helen’s daughter. The Reddit users talks about their past actions while connecting the dots by saying, “In season 1, Marty hired a PI to create new identities for his family. I have zero doubt that this is connected to Ben.”
Aftermath of the Car Crash
Season 4 started and ended with the Byrde Family getting into a car crash. It was only shown that a car was coming from the wrong direction as the Byrdes were leaving the Ozark.
bumblebowie predicts that we will see at least one member of the Byrde family either dying or getting seriously injured, the user says, “Marty & Wendy laying down on their backs after ‘finalising’ the deal was foreshadowing.” If this does happen, it will be pretty ironic that Marty and Wendy did everything in the name of their family but end up getting into a freak accident. Some people also suggest that this crash must have been a hit. Either way, we know this accident is pivotal to the next part of the 4th season.
What Happens to Maya?
Let’s be honest, Maya arresting Navarro ruined the entire plan. Especially when she first agreed with the FBI’s plan. There doesn’t seem to be any way she gets out of this season alive. Considering the hot head Javi is, he is going to go for blood, unless Ruth actually manages to kill him first.
FEAR_LORD_DUCK believes that, “Maya’s done-zo” and there is no way she is going to live through this. Even if Javi doesn’t kill her, Wendy or Marty might just end up doing it, considering she endangered their entire plan and their family’s safety.
Jonah’s Money Laundering Skills
Jonah is following his father’s footsteps and his skills were really put to good use in the first part of season 4, of course before Wendy sabotaged his work. It would be interesting to see how his skills are further developed and put to good use in the final part. This could also lead to a spin-off show.
Royal-Lack6429 argues, “Jonah’s money laundering skills might save him the same way Marty saved himself in the first episode.” The Redditor also agrees that this might lead to a spin-off show in the future, which is definitely something fans would look forward to.
Future of the Byrde Foundation
Over the last two seasons, Wendy has been sowing the seeds for the Byrde Foundation, which finally seems to be working now. But after the aftermath of the final part, what would happen to its future? One theory is that we can see Charlotte or Jonah take the realms and set themselves up as the most powerful family in the Midwest.
futgcch thinks that the foundation will continue in some form or another, even if viewers see Wendy die by the end of the show. They also suggest that, “Jim and the senators are in too deep to back out now.” It won’t be surprising if Wendy ends up getting killed. Wendy has completely transformed throughout Ozark from a damsel in distress in the first season to one of the main villains of the show.
