10 Things Star Wars Legends Fans Want To See In The Book of Boba Fett

10 Things Star Wars Legends Fans Want To See In The Book of Boba Fett

The Book of Boba Fett is a separate standalone series that will tie into The Mandalorian next season. Fans of the classic bounty hunter have long clamored for more Boba Fett content, and now they have their chance. The teaser at the end of the second season finale of The Mandalorian generated a lot of questions. Perhaps some of the answers lie in Star Wars Legends.

Some Star Wars books and comics now designated Legends are partially canon, but many are not. Boba Fett was the subject of a lot of cool stories in the former canon, all of which could play a role in the upcoming series the same way that other aspects of the books, like Cobb Vanth, have in the new canon.

The Dent In The Helmet

The origin of the famous dent in Boba Fett’s helmet hasn’t been the subject of a canon story yet—well, sort of. An uncompleted story arc of the Clone Wars animated series would have featured Boba Fett squaring off against fellow bounty hunter and rival Cad Bane, one of the strongest bounty hunters in Star Wars.

Little is known about this arc, which would have featured Bane blasting the dent in the helmet. It’s one of the few remaining unrealized Clone Wars story arcs and as such is kind of in limbo between canon and Legends.

Sintas Vel

The early stories in Star Wars books and comics operated with a much looser rein than the new ones do. That led to some interesting stories, like Boba Fett becoming a father.

In the Legends timeline, a sixteen-year-old Boba Fett married another bounty hunter, Sintas Vel. Together, they had a child, Ailyn Vel. Sintas first appeared in “Outbid But Never Outgunned” from the Star Wars Tales 7 Dark Horse Comic. Her Legends history is brutal, but she would make for an interesting character to bring into canon to help develop Boba Fett.

Animated Gangsters

Boba Fett Sise Fromm

Star Wars: Droids was a 1985 animated series and one of the first real Star Wars spin-offs. George Lucas rendered it and its companion series, Ewoks, apocryphal, but there are some elements of it that could factor into The Book of Boba Fett.

Boba Fett played a role in the 80s series. Sise Fromm was a gangster who hired Boba Fett to sabotage the racing team of Jord Dusat and Thall Joben in the Boonta Speeder Race. Given Fromm’s unique legacy in Star Wars collectibles—he was only released in Brazil and never available in America—he would be a great throwback.

The Silver Speeder

Another great Easter egg from the Droids animated series would be the Silver Speeder. Boba Fett pursued Thall Joben in his speeder, the White Witch, in this awesome enclosed vehicle. Unfortunately for collectors, neither speeder ever made it into production, though the White Witch very nearly did.

The Mandalorian loves to drop Easter eggs in the series from all kinds of sources, including Legends. Many original Kenner toys have made it into Star Wars canon, like the Imperial Troop Transport seen in both The Mandalorian and Star Wars Rebels.

Necropolis

One of Boba Fett’s most interesting—and dire—Legends stories involves the world of Necropolis. On this creepy world, Boba Fett went up against Dr. Evazan, one of the weirdest Cantina aliens in the original Star Wars movie, and his army of zombies.

He could be a cool inclusion in the new series. Dr. Evazan has already made a cameo in the Disney era, along with his partner Ponda Baba, in one of the most satisfying moments in Rogue One.

IG-88

IG-88 appears in The Empire Strikes Back.

IG-88 is one of the six bounty hunters glimpsed in The Empire Strikes Back, and the subject of a lot of Legends storylines. One of them, Shadows of the Empire, saw Boba Fett destroy the assassin droid to keep hold of his bounty Han Solo.

Given the popularity of IG-11 in The Mandalorian, the odds of the original IG unit showing up in The Book of Boba Fett are pretty good. IG-88 survives to the sequel trilogy era in canon, where he attempts to locate the Millenium Falcon after the Battle of Takodana.

Dash Rendar

A major Legends character from Shadows of the Empire is Dash Rendar. This multi-media story isn’t part of the canon, but he was a major piece of 90s Star Wars lore. Taking place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, it delved into the storylines between the two films.

Rendar is a smuggler who more or less occupies Han Solo’s place in the story since he was frozen in carbonite at the time. His ship, the Outrider, has a small cameo in the Special Edition of A New Hope, just one of the many positive revisions to the Star Wars saga.

Panna Armor

Boba Fett has his armor back, but fans have seen a couple of different versions of it in The Mandalorian. Fett gave the armor a new paint job, which could lead to seeing other paint applications on the original armor, or other armors altogether. One Legends possibility is his Panna armor from the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special.

Boba Fett’s unique rifle has already made it into canon as the weapon of Din Djarin, so it would only make sense for Boba Fett to don a version of this awesome armor in his series.

Jodo Kast

Jodo Kast is perhaps the most significant Legends character affiliated with Boba Fett. In the early comic books, Kast was a bounty hunter who repainted his armor to look like Boba Fett’s. He impersonated the Mandalorian hunter for a long time until Boba Fett returned.

Boba Fett took his revenge and left Kast for dead. The idea of a bounty hunter impersonating Boba Fett has a lot of potential, especially for the new streaming series, and it would be great to see Jodo Kast.

Boba Fett’s Lightsaber

Din Djarin now has a claim to the Darksaber, just one of many Star Wars characters to wield the ancient Mandalorian weapon, but there might be a cooler weapon out there.

In Legends, Boba Fett actually has his own lightsaber and dueled Darth Vader with it. The two locked swords in the comic book Star Wars Tales 11 in 2002, after Grand Moff Tarkin hired Fett to track down Han Solo. Darth Vader wanted him for himself, which led to their brutal duel. Vader ended up losing Solo, but he left with Fett’s blade.
