10 Things Fans Can’t Wait To Find Out In Bridgerton Season 2

10 Things Fans Can’t Wait To Find Out In Bridgerton Season 2

The Regency-era drama Bridgerton has had fans waiting in bated breath for its second season, ever since the first outing took Netflix by storm. Delayed due to the pandemic, the second season is expected to take things up a notch with the wild Lord Anthony Bridgerton declaring his intentions to marry.

However, while the viscount’s romance will be central, there are several other anticipated plotlines that fans are invested in, personal journeys to be explored, and characters whose current situation could offer closure after a tumultuous first season. As Lady Whistledown takes to pen and paper once more, Bridgerton fans await much excitement.

A Glimpse Into Marina’s Future

10 Things Fans Can’t Wait To Find Out In Bridgerton Season 2

Marina Thompson was a vibrantly attractive young woman who took made a big impression in season 1. She was also the only woman in the caricaturish Feathrington family who lured suitors by the dozens, much to the dismay of the family matriarch.

After much drama surrounding Marina’s pregnancy, she finally agreed to accept Sir Phillip Crane’s proposal, the brother of George, the man she loved. Although a potentially loveless marriage, Marina was forced to consider it given her pregnancy, a situation that, in 1813 British aristocratic society, was deemed scandalous to say the least. It would certainly be interesting if fans were given some closure with a glimpse into how she is faring in her new life with a baby and a husband she must grow to endure, if not love.

Benedict’s Self-Discovery

Bridgerton fans must remember before binging on season 2 that the first season hinted at a possible queer storyline for Benedict Bridgerton, the younger brother of Anthony. His sexual journey, albeit less prominent than his older brother’s, was on the verge of unfolding.

Fans can’t wait to find out where Benedict ends up in his path of self-exploration. The audience would love to see his dalliances as he endeavors to find himself. Oh, and a little more Henry Graville wouldn’t be to upsetting for viewers either.

Lord Bridgerton & His Shenanigans

‘Rakish’ is a word Bridgerton writers seem to have a great affinity for. Well, Lord Anthony Bridgerton was the epitome of rakish in season 1, what with his blatant disregard for the duties and role deemed appropriate of a man of noble birth in society. He also very frequently sent the audience swooning with his sexual encounters with the feisty Sienna, an opera singer, who, by social standards of the time, would have made a most unacceptable match for a viscount.

It is understood that Anthony would be reigning it in for the new season as he settles down for a steadier life. However, it would still be interesting to see exactly how he manages to restrain his instincts, perhaps even allowing for some hilarity as he fights his ‘rakish’ urges.

Penelope & Colin

The youngest Bridgerton brother appeared supremely oblivious to Penelope Featherington’s feelings for him. He also packed himself off to Greece at the end of the first season after having his heart broken by Marina.

Fans would like to find out if Colin becomes aware of Penelope’s sentiments in the upcoming season, if the Bridgerton brother returns from his tour of Europe any time soon. Often overlooked for not being ‘conventionally’ beautiful, Penelope has more wit and intelligence than the rest of her family combined and certainly deserves to be admired for who she is. But whether Colin would be bright enough to see that is another matter altogether.

Eloise Coming Into Her Own

Eloise with a bow and her characteristic expression in Bridgerton

Eloise Bridgerton is probably one of the best characters on Bridgerton. The Bridgerton sibling who prides herself the most on being more intellectually inclined than her peers, Eloise is potent for exploration. For all those who find the romantic plotlines repetitive, Eloise might hopefully provide a breath of fresh air.

Season 1 already set the premise for what fans might expect to see from Eloise in the near future. She was on the verge of finding out the identity of the elusive Lady Whistledown, a task that she had set out to accomplish at the bidding of Queen Charlotte herself. Fans would be keen to find out whether Eloise finally unravels the mystery of the curious columnist.

Who Inherits The Featherington Estate?

Less Portia, Baroness Featherington at a party in Bridgerton

The first season ended on a cliffhanger for the Featheringtons when it was revealed that Lord Featherington had been killed, presumably by bookmakers who weren’t feeling lenient enough to let him live in spite of his huge debts.

The cliffhanger came as Lady Featherington was handed a note that carried the name of the person who would, in the absence of the patriarch, inherit his estate. Fans will recall that this was a time when estates were still handed down from father to son, and then to his male next of kin, instead of his daughters. Season 2 should reveal more about the identity of this heir to the estate whose name didn’t seem to please the Baroness at all.

More Queen, Please!

Queen Charlotte was one of the best characters in Bridgerton’s first season. The spirited royal stole the show every time she was on screen. With her enormous wigs, her Pomeranians, and her keen interest in intrigue and matchmaking, Queen Charlotte was an absolute hoot.

The Queen was devoted to her husband and the latter’s growing psychological instability was clearly a matter of great distress for her. In season 2, fans hope to see more character development for Queen Charlotte and perhaps a peek into how she deals with her own married life while she amuses herself with gossip about younger, prospective couples.

Daphne’s Arc

Simon and Daphne on Bridgerton were soulmates at some times and toxic at others. With actor Rege-Jean Page bowing out as the Duke of Hastings, fans are naturally wondering what Daphne’s arc would look like in the new season. She might have some role to play in seeking a bride for her older brother, but surely there would be more to this stubborn young woman than just that.

Albeit the lead protagonist of the first season, Daphne might very well take a backseat now as the focus shifts to her other siblings, all of whom will presumably find their love one after the other. Yet, fans would be curious to see more of the oldest Bridgerton sister in whose story they had invested so much last season.

Anthony & Kate

Of course, the one thing fans are most thrilled about in season 2 is the much-anticipated affair between Lord Bridgerton and Kate Sharma. The viscount would be looking for a bride in the upcoming season, and if the trailer is anything to go by, then his exchanges with Kate should be brimming with witty repartees and sizzling chemistry.

It would be fun to see if the viscount meets his match at last. Season 1 had ended with his complete disillusionment in love itself. Fans can only hope that season 2 will find him more open to the softer emotions as his path crosses with the beguiling Kate.

Kate Sharma

Finally, the character of Kate Sharma should have a fascinating journey in the upcoming season. Bridgerton has made an impression for racially and ethnically diverse casting, and Kate is no exception. It would be intriguing to find out more about her backstory and see how she ends up putting the viscount in his place.

The show is not known for spending too much time in character development, but Kate Sharma seems like someone who could have a distinct arc of her own, aside from the romantic storyline that is sure to emerge.
