Over the years, Rick and Morty have introduced numerous villains, but some stand out as more powerful than the rest. Rick and Morty is known for its crazy Sci-fi adventures and interesting characters. Among them are some menacing villains. While some characters only make a single appearance, others have built their reputation over time, becoming some of the most threatening characters in the entire Rick and Morty universe. It can often be hard to gauge just how strong each character is due to some of the ridiculous settings, but that makes the most powerful villains stand out more as they actually pose a threat to Rick Sanchez.
Some antagonists are killed off right away, others last longer, and some are still alive in the series. The latest season killed off one of the show’s longest-serving villains, meaning Rick and Morty needs a new main villain after season 7 to carry the series forward. Even when big enemies are killed off, it usually isn’t long before the show introduces another major threat, often even more menacing than the last. With seven seasons worth of villains,Rick and Morty have had no shortage of foes trying to take down the protagonists, and some of the show’s most powerful have come incredibly close to doing so.
10 Story Lord
Story Lord Is Capable Of Breaking The Fourth Wall
Despite only appearing in two episodes, Story Lord leaves a lasting impression and proves to be one of the most powerful villains in Rick and Morty. His physical strength is impressive, able to beat up Rick and Morty without much trouble, but his real power is the ability to break the fourth wall. Given Rick and Morty’s meta storytelling, Story Lord’s ability to force characters into different scenarios makes him a huge threat. Being able to trap his enemies into seemingly never-ending scenarios is a unique power that makes Story Lord stand out and even when these abilities are overcome, he still has great combat skills to fall back on.
9 Planetina
Planetina Is A Superhero Who Can Use Each Classic Element
Being a superhero doesn’t instantly make someone a threat in the Rick and Morty universe, but Planetina possesses the ability to use all the classic elements, making her a danger. While she initially has good intentions, attempting to save the planet’s environment and becoming a love interest of Morty, it becomes clear she is more unhinged than meets the eye. She shows less regard for human life and uses her elements to cause chaos and destruction by shooting lasers and fire at civilians. Her final appearance was a messy breakup with Morty, which she didn’t take well, meaning she could return and cause more problems in the future.
8 Tammy
Tammy Was An Undercover Agent For The Galactic Federation
Tammy seemed to be nothing more than a regular side character in Rick and Morty, being a friend of Summer who served little purpose. This made the reveal that she was an undercover agent all the more shocking. After forming a relationship with Rick’s close friend, Tammy betrays Birdperson at their wedding in Rick and Morty season 2, before turning him into a brainwashed Galactic Federation agent known as Pheonix Person. She is a capable fighter, but Tammy’s undercover skills and manipulation are her most impressive talents. Not many people can deceive Rick, yet Tammy managed to marry his friend without causing suspicion.
7 The Wizard
The Wizard Was A Sorcerer Capable Of Wielding All Kinds Of Magic
The Wizard is a bizarre villain that shows just how powerful Rick and Morty antagonists can be in the right circumstances. While he isn’t a threat across multiple dimensions, in his world, The Wizard is incredibly powerful. His fight against Rick is the ultimate showcase of magic vs science. Rick’s inventions are normally way too advanced for regular foes, but The Wizard’s magic proves a difficult match even for Rick. From summoning rock monsters to giving himself 12 feet, Rick ultimately needs a dragon to kill The Wizard. He may be a more comedic enemy, but in his realm, he is easily one of the most powerful Rick and Morty villains.
6 Mr. Nimbus
Mr. Nimbus Is Rick’s Nemesis
At first glance, it may seem hard to believe Mr. Nimbus is Rick’s nemesis, but his powers prove why he is such a thorn in Rick’s side. Mr. Nimbus is the king of the ocean in Rick and Morty and, while it may seem like he is only a powerful being in water, he proves that is not the case. Like many other villains, he is a strong fighter, beating up Rick and emphasizing why he is his sworn enemy. He can also control the police, even managing to arrest Rick using these powers. Rick and Morty season 6 set up the villain’s future arc, but he has yet to appear since.
5 Reggie
Reggie Reached God-Like Status In Rick And Morty
Having the powers of a God makes Reggie one of the show’s most powerful enemies. Despite not being one of Rick and Morty‘s most iconic villains, the show’s equivalent to Zeus, Reggie, is far from an easy foe. Reggie was able to best Rick in one-on-one combat, taking a surprise attack from Morty and Summer to kill the God. Not only is he the God of the sky and thunder, but he is also capable of impregnating a sentient planet. Reggie stands out as one of the most imposing and powerful antagonists in the show, and had it not been for his grandchildren catching Reggie off guard, Rick may have finally met his match.
4 Fart
Fart Wanted To Eliminate All Carbon-Based Life
Although Fart initially appears friendly when he is introduced in Rick and Morty, he turns out to be one of the most devastating threats in the entire show. Fart could produce any element from atoms, making him an immediate problem. The show never highlights too many of his physical abilities, but he does cause the death of multiple cops through one simple conversation. Fart ends up dying, but he can’t be killed by regular matter. Instead, Morty had to use a special gun to kill Fart after the villain revealed he planned on killing all Carbon-based life forms, proving he was deadly and had dark intentions.
3 The Pope
The Pope Kills Rick, Morty, And Big Foot Multiple Times
Rick and Morty season 7 breaks the show’s death rule by having the main versions of Rick and Morty killed at the hands of The Pope. Alongside Bigfoot, the two main characters attempt to confront The Pope, only to be killed with ease. After being resurrected from Valhalla multiple times, Rick, Morty, and Bigfoot die repeatedly until they are finally able to beat him. The Pope’s ability to effortlessly kill Rick Sanchez may be easily overlooked in the episode since Rick and Morty do finally win, but it is clear that with an infinite power source, The Pope is one of the show’s strongest villains.
2 Rick Prime
Rick Prime Is The One Villain Rick Sanchez Couldn’t Defeat
Rick and Morty season 7’s Rick Prime death was one of the show’s biggest moments as it killed off its biggest villain. Rick Prime had been the major antagonist for several seasons of Rick and Morty, proving to be the one villain the series’ main Rick couldn’t overcome. His incredible intellect allowed him to be the first Rick to make a portal gun, and he viewed himself as the superior Rick across all dimensions. He wound up killing Rick’s wife, Diane, in every dimension, showing how evil and effective he could be. It took Evil Morty’s help for Rick to finally overcome Rick Prime and get his revenge.

While Rick is supposed to be the genius of the duo, Evil Morty managed to kill his own universe’s Rick and murdered many more afterward. Evil Morty’s backstory in Rick and Morty unveils his hatred for Ricks while uncovering more about the dynamic between the two. His genius allows him to make his own portal gun, and he now possesses the Omega Device which Rick Prime used to kill Diane in every dimension. His cold, calculated nature mixed with his intelligence means he doesn’t need the same power as the show’s other villains, as his intellect is the most powerful tool on the show.
