While people patiently await the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the trailer for the game has been dissected, revealing that many of the moments held within are actually based on real-life viral events. With the rise of the Florida Man meme and no shortage of interesting and disturbing things happening in the state, there was plenty contained in the short trailer to chew on, and much of it is based on real life.
While some of the viral moments captured in the GTA 6 trailer are harder to pick out, some more closely resemble the situations that likely inspired them. 10 Gator In The Pool

An unsuspecting homeowner woke up to a pretty terrifying sight in 2021: a giant alligator had snuck its way into the backyard pool. The day started as any other day, with the man awakening, but that day, he’d find a nine-foot alligator lurking in his backyard. According to FOX 13 Tampa Bay, The East Lake Wildlife Control was immediately called, leading to the viral moment of specialists fishing out a gator from the pool. Important to note, that this certainly isn’t the first time a gator has been found in a pool, and definitely not the last.
9 Doing Yardwork In The Nude

Another pretty dumbfounding story comes from the local news outlet WPTV 5 News when, in 2018, a Florida man decided that doing yard work in the nude was preferable to wearing clothing. Though this understandably upset the neighborhood, surprisingly, local authorities claimed nothing could be done, as the man was naked on his own property. That said, after the sheriff spoke to the man, he felt apologetic and was determined to wear clothing for the foreseeable future while watering his plants.
8 Twerking On The Top Of A Car

While twerking out of the sunroof of a car is oddly nothing new for Miamians, getting on top of a moving vehicle that’s driving down the highway takes things up a notch. This twerking extraordinaire managed to execute the perfect full-split twerk on what appears to be a Volkswagon sedan, masterfully keeping her composure and balance as the car barrels down the Miami MacArthur Causeway. The astounding occurrence was captured by Billy Corben on X (formerly Twitter). Corben also happens to be an American documentary film director.
7 Dine And Dash Causes Car Accident

Though perhaps not pointing to any singular instance, there is a striking number of car accidents caused in Florida and indeed in the entire United States by folks attempting to dine and dash. Though the concept in itself seems absurd — as dining and dashing is a minor offense in comparison to flipping a car over, there have been several viral moments throughout the years of people getting into car accidents after dining and dashing.
While some just result in minor fender benders, others are much more serious, like a man in Margate, Florida, who ran over a Denny’s employee after dining and dashing in 2023.
6 Naked Man Running From Police

The naked man running from police looks most like a 2022 incident that occurred in Oakville, Ontario, Canada when Halton Regional Police ran down a man running down the street completely in the nude. Captured in a video released by CHCH News on YouTube, the resemblance to the occurrence is uncanny. While little details can be found about the incident, the clip in the GTA 6 trailer could also point to a more serious moment that occurred in 2022 in DeLand, Florida.
A naked man allegedly entered a gas station with a machete and demanded clothing (not surprising), cash, and someone’s phone. Volusia County sheriff’s deputies eventually got the convicted felon under control, and he was taken into custody with no one being harmed in the incident.
5 Miami Joker Gets Arrested

Those familiar with online virality likely already know about the Miami man who goes by the moniker of the Miami Joker or Florida Joker. Becoming internet famous after this 2017 arrest in which he was charged with allegedly carrying a concealed firearm is another moment that could be played off for laughs but actually impacted people in a real way. Miami Joker would comment about the resemblance in the trailer on his TikTok account.
4 ATV Mud Park
Charlotte County, Florida
If you were wondering what the ATV’s in the mud were, it is a likely reference to the Redneck Mud Park, a location in Florida with campsites and riding trails for ATVs that also holds several events throughout the year. The viral moment in the GTA 6 trailer is likely a reference to one of their annual events where people come out to celebrate in the mud.
3 Dirt Bikes On South Florida Roads
Pembroke Pines & Miami-Dade, Florida
Though dirt bikes and ATVs riding on Florida roads is nothing new, the act is actually illegal. However, that doesn’t stop some from going to the streets en masse. This reference in the GTA 6 trailer is likely referring to any one of the many instances of this occurring, and perhaps specifically to an NBC 6 South Florida report of over 40 people arrested in February of 2023 for doing this very thing.
2 A Gator Enters A Convenience Store

Though it wasn’t a gas station or corner store, a six-foot alligator did enter a Walmart in 2013. Though no one was hurt in the incident, the gator did get close enough to the automatic doors to cause them to open, which caused quite a stir among people trying to shop. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the store was promptly shut down while animal control wrangled the beast.

Like many of the other viral moments packed in the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, the woman holding two hammers appears to be a darker story rather than something that’s actually humorous. Twitter user edyperezz_ documented a woman in 2020 who went around the neighborhood smashing up cars. When confronted, she aggressively runs up to the person taking the video and says, “Get the [explicitive] out of this neighborhood.”
