10 Rarest Fortnite Skins Of 2024, Ranked

10 Rarest Fortnite Skins Of 2024, Ranked

Epic Games’ Fortnite has been the most popular battle royale game following its launch to global popularity in 2017. Over time, the game has effectively made some of its cosmetic items incredibly rare by only releasing them in the item shop once or forcing players to purchase other items outside the game to acquire them. Some players have begged for skins such as the Black Knight or Renegade Raider to return to the store, but Epic Games insists on not distributing these cosmetics any further.

Fortnite may not be as popular among the masses as it was during its peak, but the game has stayed relevant thanks to its willingness to constantly reinvent itself. The game also appeals to a large player base given its many collaborations with other properties in pop culture such as Invincible, Dune, and Marvel Fortnite crossovers. There are more than a thousand outfits to choose from in Fortnite, but some remain incredibly rare, even to this day.

The Reaper Is Based On An Iconic Character

The Reaper skin in Fortnite

The Reaper outfit was one of the first great outfits in Fortnite, clearly drawing inspiration from John Wick. The game had yet to begin collaborating with so many outside studios at this early stage, so a lookalike was the closest thing Epic Games could do without infringing any copyright rules. The Reaper remains one of the sleekest skins in the game despite being released more than five years ago.

The only way to attain this skin was to reach the max level of 100 in the Chapter 1, Season 3 Battle Pass. The addition of a more accurate John Wick skin in Fortnite served as a viable replacement for those who missed out on The Reaper in the game’s infancy. However, Epic Games releasing a Keanu Reeves-lookalike several years later doesn’t change the fact that The Reaper is one of the rarest skins in Fortnite.

The Honor Guard Accompanied A New Smartphone

The Honor Guard skin holding an assault rifle in Fortnite

The Honor Guard outfit is essentially a blue version of the Overtaker skin, which was Fortnite‘s original biker. The original Overtaker and Whiteout skins were released as part of the Vanishing Point Set in Chapter 1, Season 5. However, acquiring the Honor Guard skin in Fortnite was far more difficult than a simple item shop purchase, like most other cosmetics.

The original way to get the Honor Guard skin is by purchasing an Honor View20 smartphone, which ranges anywhere from $500-$700. Another way to get the outfit is by buying an account that already has it, which will likely fetch a hefty price considering the skin’s rarity. These two methods being the only means of acquiring this striking blue cosmetic is the main reason why it’s one of Fortnite‘s most scarcely seen outfits.

Gold Agent Peely Is More Recent But Still Rare

Gold Agent Peely with other characters behind it in Fortnite

The completely golden version of Fortnite‘s Agent Peely skin is the rarest skin to release after Chapter 1, largely due to how difficult it was to unlock this variant. The original Peely skin was released in Chapter 1, Season 8, and lacks the stylish suave of the Secret Agent counterpart. The standard Agent Peely, however, was dropped as part of Chapter 2, Season 2 Battle Pass in February 2020.

The all-gold version of Agent Peely was a reward for reaching level 300 in the Season 2, Chapter 2 Battle Pass. Reaching this high level took such a ridiculous amount of time that there was backlash from the Fortnite player base at the time about these absurd requirements. But it’s for this reason that, despite being released more than several years after the game rose to fame, Golden Agent Peely is and will always be a remarkably rare skin.

Blue Team Leader Is An Old PlayStation Exclusive

The Blue Team Leader skin in Fortnite

The Blue Team Leader is another one of Fortnite‘s rarest skins that never appeared in the item shop. This outfit bears a resemblance to many of the game’s standard skins but with a Sony-inspired twist in the form of a blue beanie and armband. Blue Team Leader is a primary example of one of the many sleek but simple skins in Fortnite that come together so well.

The only way to get this skin was to purchase the first PlayStation Plus Celebration pack for $10, which was released in Chapter 1, Season 2 on February 14, 2018. The pack was not available for long and has since been replaced by many other PlayStation Exclusive skins. Only a percentage of all Fortnite players in February 2018 were on PlayStation, and fewer still were purchasing outfits.

Double Helix Is Another Console Exclusive

The Double Helix Skin in Fortnite

Before Fortnite began collaborating with entertainment studios on exclusive skins, they first partnered up with Samsung, PlayStation, and Nintendo. There are other versions of the Double Helix skin in different colors, such as green and black, but none are as rare as the original. This is one of the few outfits that may not be as aesthetically sharp as others but is sought after due to its exceptional rarity.

Even upon release, getting the Double Helix skin was, at minimum, a $300 venture. The skin was part of an exclusive Nintendo Switch Bundle, which was released in 2018 and is no longer available. Similar to several other rare skins in Fortnite, there’s a finite number of Double Helix outfits in the world, meaning those who want one need to be prepared to go deep into their pockets.

Royale Bomber Was Another PlayStation Exclusive

The Royale Bomber skin in Fortnite

One common trait among many of the rarest Fortnite skins is a console exclusive in some form. Fortnite has come a long way in the years since its release, and this skin feels more like a relic from a bygone era. It’s not a skin many players are pining over due to its looks, but it’s still hardly ever seen in the game and is one of the hardest outfits to acquire in 2024.

The Royale Bomber skin was part of a PlayStation-exclusive bundle released in 2018. Unlike the Blue Team Leader, those who wanted the Royale Bomber in Fortnite had either to buy a PS4 console or a DualShock controller. There are a few Royale Bomber codes and accounts out there, but similar to the Double Helix, they’re anything but cheap.

The Galaxy Skin Is Purely Stunning

The Galaxy skin in Fortnite

Fortnite‘s Galaxy skin is one of the game’s most priceless commodities. It’s not a common thing for the rarest outfits to also be some of the best looking, but the Galaxy skin is easily one of Fortnite‘s most alluring skins. Players were going to extreme links to add the Galaxy skin to their locker when it was released in 2018.

The Galaxy skin was a reward for downloading Fortnite on a Samsung Galaxy phone shortly after the game launched on mobile. The only downside to playing with the Galaxy skin is because it’s so breathtaking, it’s easy to get distracted and lose the upper hand in a fight. There have been other mock galaxy skins in the game released since, but none will ever top the original.

3

The Black Knight Is A Sign Of An Experienced Player

The Black Knight skin in Fortnite

The Black Knight skin is so old that it predates the days of Fortnite‘s 100-level Battle Pass. Running into a Black Knight anywhere on the map almost always means trouble; players sporting this skin have years of experience. Combined with the iconic black shield, it’s also one of the sleekest outfits in Fortnite’s storied history.

This skin was a reward for reaching the max level of 70 in the Chapter 1, Season 2 Battle Pass. It was part of the game’s first true Battle Pass, as Chapter 1, Season 1 took a different structure of unlocking cosmetics for purchase after reaching a certain level. For those who spot a Black Knight skin while playing Fortnite, either run or prepare for a difficult fight.

2

The Aerial Assault Trooper Is An OG Outfit

The Aerial Assault Trooper outfit in Fortnite

While the Black Knight is rare enough to predate the 100-tier Battle Pass, the Aerial Assault Trooper was around before the Battle Pass was even a thing. This is an absurd thing to think about, considering so many other games, such as NBA 2K and Call of Duty, now all have a Battle Pass system of some sort. This outfit just screams “Classic Fortnite” with a burning passion.

For those who were playing Fortnite in what’s now known as Chapter 1, Season 1, the Aerial Assault Trooper became available for purchase in the item shop for 1,200 V-Bucks after reaching Level 15. Newcomers to Fortnite could play the game for weeks and never see one of these outfits; few own it, and fewer still who still actively play. This skin has a case for the rarest in Fortnite history.

The Renegade Raider Is The Rarest Skin In Fortnite

The Renegade Raider skin in Fortnite

The Renegade Raider has long been one of Fortnite‘s most iconic outfits, and it’s also the rarest. Like the Aerial Assault Trooper, the Renegade Raider was released in Chapter 1, Season 1, before the invention of the modern Battle Pass. A lookalike labeled the Renegade Flame was first released in 2020, but the original is still superior.

Unlocking the ability to purchase the Renegade Raider in Fortnite Chapter 1, Season 1 meant reaching level 20. Fortnite has come a long way since its release, now having skins based on iconic characters like Avatar Korra. But, long before the days of corporate collaboration, there were legendary outfits like the Renegade Raider, and they remain supreme to this day.

Fortnite will always be a popular battle royale game due to its ability to constantly reinvent itself and deliver fresh new cosmetics. The rarest skins, like the Aerial Assault Trooper and the Black Knight, are a rite of passage for long-time Fortnite players. It’s essentially impossible to acquire most of Fortnite‘s rarest skins without shelling out large amounts of cash, further cementing their legacy as sought-after items.
