10 Pairs Of Marvel Heroes We’re Most Excited To See Together In Avengers 5 & 6

10 Pairs Of Marvel Heroes We’re Most Excited To See Together In Avengers 5 & 6

The upcoming Avengers movies that will be released during the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 6 could bring some exciting pairs of heroes to the big screen. The latest of the MCU’s Avengers movies was 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The film served to end the MCU’s Infinity Saga — with Spider-Man: Far From Home serving as its epilogue — and did a breathtaking job of bringing the most MCU heroes together that Marvel has ever assembled to fight Thanos’ army at the end.

Following the Phase 3 Avengers film, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have gone years without assembling. Of the original Avengers, only half — Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye — remain active in the MCU. After Marvel decided that Phases 4 and 5 would not have an Avengers film, Phase 6 will feature two entries in the team-up franchise — The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. As the Multiverse Saga’s major events, the upcoming MCU movies are expected to bring together several heroes from the MCU and Marvel’s live-action history. With reports that the original Avengers will also return, the two films could feature exciting hero team-ups.

Over 15 years and 33 movies, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have redefined blockbuster cinema. But how do all the films stack up?

10 Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow And Charlie Cox’s Daredevil

Black Widow And Daredevil Share Comic Book History

Black Widow and Daredevil - Scarlett Johansson and Charlie Cox

Natasha Romanoff and Matt Murdock have one of the most interesting romances of Marvel Comics. As Black Widow died in Avengers: Endgame two years before Charlie Cox returned as Daredevil in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, the characters never met in the MCU. If the original Avengers end up returning to wrap up the Multiverse Saga — with Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson’s characters resurrected — then Black Widow and Daredevil interacting in one of the upcoming Avengers movies and flirting as a nod to their comic book history would be a must-see.

9 Ioan Gruffudd And Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards

The Council Of Reeds Could Even Bring In More Versions Of Mr. Fantastic

The Fantastic Four‘s cast has finally been revealed, with Marvel Studios picking The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal to be the MCU’s Reed Richards. With the multiverse in play, seeing Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic interact with Ioan Gruffudd’s version of Reed — who played the character in the 2000s Fantastic Four movies — would be exciting, pairing two of the smartest men in the multiverse. To counter the Council of Kangs, Marvel might even use the Council of Reeds, with the multiverse team allowing for Miles Teller and John Krasinski to also appear as Reed Richards.

Avengers: Secret Wars can use the multiverse to feature more characters than Endgame, with several fan-favorite Marvel characters deserving a return.

8 Chris Evans’ Captain America And Chris Evans’ Human Torch

The MCU Star Excelled In Both Marvel Roles

Chris Evans’ casting as Captain America was one of the best choices the MCU could have ever made. The actor became one of the faces of the franchise alongside Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and has been sorely missing after Steve Rogers’ story came to a close in Avengers: Endgame. Evans’ return in Avengers: Secret Wars could bring one of the most requested multiverse moments by fans: The actor’s Human Torch and Captain America coming together. Before joining the MCU, Evans played a pitch-perfect Johnny Storm, and seeing his two very different heroes interact would be golden.

7 Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man And Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards

Two Of Marvel’s Smartest Characters Have To Meet In The MCU

Tony Stark and Reed Richards have worked together countless times in the comics. Due to that, it would be a missed opportunity to never have RDJ’s Iron Man team-up with Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic. With rumors that an MCU reboot might come after Avengers: Secret Wars, the movie might be the last chance to see Downey back as Iron Man. As such, having Reed call on a multiverse Tony or bring back the MCU’s Iron Man through time travel to save the multiverse would be a thrilling event.

6 Chris Evans’ Captain America And Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine Could Beat The Avengers Movies To The Punch

MCU wolverine Captain america

Hugh Jackman will return as Logan in Deadpool & Wolverine. With the third Deadpool movie teasing Avengers: Secret Wars, it is possible that Jackman’s Wolverine will continue in the MCU to be part of the movie. If that happens, seeing him fight side-by-side with Evans’ Captain America would be a Marvel Comics’ fan dream come true. Both heroes share a past due to their role in World War II, where they fought together. Captain America and Wolverine teaming up in the Avengers movies could see some dialogue related to their war adventures as a treat.

5 Michael Fassbender’s Magneto And Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch

A Family Meeting Is Bound To Happen

Magneto is the Scarlet Witch’s father in the comics. That has yet to be translated to live-action; however, the upcoming Avengers movies could make it happen. While Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff is presumed dead at the moment, she will inevitably return. Ian McKellen’s Magneto would make more sense to play her father, given the actors’ age gap; however, Fassbender’s version of the character has the potential to be brought in as the MCU’s Magneto, and the actor would make a formidable pair with Olsen.

4 Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine And Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk

Phase 6’s Avengers Movies Could Explore An Iconic Marvel Comics Rivalry

Wolverine and the Hulk have fought several times in the comics, bringing some of the greatest battles in Marvel history to life. With Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk continuing in the MCU and Jackman’s Logan joining the franchise in Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel Studios can finally capitalize on that rivalry. Avengers: Endgame listened to many of the fans’ requests, and it is likely that the same will apply to the next two Avengers entries. Perhaps Kang the Conqueror or one of his variants could transform Smart Hulk back into Berserker form, pushing him into a bloody fight with Wolverine.

3 Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool And Tom Holland’s Spider-Man

Spider-Man And Deadpool Could Become The MCU’s Fan-Favorite Duo

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool teaming up has the potential to lead to a series of hilarious moments. The two actors are skilled in the comedy department, with their MCU heroes being known for their quips and use of humor even in the darkest situations. Without Iron Man and Captain America, the MCU needs new leads. Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy is universally beloved, and the same goes for Reynolds’ Deadpool movies, with Deadpool & Wolverine‘s trailer already breaking records. The duo need to bring their heroes’ chemistry from the comics to the big screen in the next Avengers movies.

2 Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man And Emma Stone As Spider-Gwen

The Amazing Spider-Man Reunion Everyone Needs

While The Amazing Spider-Man 2 faltered, Gwen Stacy’s death continues to hit hard to this day. That was due to the franchise being held together by the electrifying chemistry between Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker and Emma Stone’s Gwen. Following his Spider-Man: No Way Home return — which initially had plans to include Stone’s Gwen — Garfield seems like a lock for one of the multiverse roles in the next Avengers movies. Bringing in Stone as a different version of Gwen — as Spider-Woman — to bring romance back into the life of Garfield’s Peter would make for an emotional story.

1 Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man And Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine

The Actors Made Marvel What It Is Today

Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in Avengers Secret Wars

The success of the 2000s Marvel movies paved the way for 2008’s Iron Man. In particular, Fox’s X-Men movies and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy were responsible for a whole generation of Marvel fans. As the leads of those franchises, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man have become two of the most popular live-action heroes ever. Now that Maguire has appeared in the MCU and Jackman will soon join the universe, Marvel has the chance to put the two together in Avengers: Secret Wars, which would help the final Avengers movie of the Multiverse Saga surpass Endgame.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is the fifth Avengers film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will bring together heroes, new and old, to face off against the omnipotent Kang the Conquerer. The Kang Dynasty will also mark the beginning of phase 6 of the MCU.
