10 Movie Stars We Want To See In The Next Ocean’s Movie

10 Movie Stars We Want To See In The Next Ocean’s Movie

Before the Avengers phenomenon, one of the most impressive movie casts ever assembled was the line-up for Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven. The 2001 caper was a remake of the Rat Pack film from 1960 and featured George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts, among many others, sharing the screen in a widely entertaining heist film.

The sequels added even more stars to the cast while Ocean’s 8 was a who’s who of female stars like Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Rhianna. While there is no follow-up to the franchise currently being developed, we’d love to see a new film with a big cast of the biggest male and female names making up the latest Ocean’s crew. Here are some of the movie stars we want to see in the next Ocean’s film.

Denzel Washington

10 Movie Stars We Want To See In The Next Ocean’s Movie

Denzel Washington has had one of the most successful careers in Hollywood. Ever since rising to fame in films like Glory and Malcolm X, his career has never slowed down. He remains one of the most bankable stars working today and one of the best actors of all-time.

Washington’s star power has few rivals so he would fit perfectly well right at the top of this cast list. His effortless sense of authority makes him an ideal leader of the new Ocean’s crew and he can absolutely pull off the appropriate levels of coolness required.

Charlize Theron

Oscar winner Charlize Theron is certainly an acting powerhouse as we have seen in many different movies. However, lately she has shown us what a badass she can be on screen. With films like Mad Max: Fury Road and Atomic Blonde, Theron has proven she can kick butt with the best of them.

She could be the perfect muscle for the team, being able to be drop-dead gorgeous and downright deadly all at once. Like Washington, she seems like a born leader and it might be interesting to see the two butt heads for the top position.

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling Drive

Ryan Gosling is one of the most likable actors working today. The Canadian superstar has amassed a stellar career filled with a variety of roles from the romantic leading man, to the brooding criminal, to the bumbling idiot and much more.

This kind of versatility has made Gosling a compelling star and one audiences love seeing on screen. He seems like the perfect fit for the kind of suave ideas man at the center of the caper. Bringing laidback persona and sharp wit to the role, he feels like a perfect choice.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone in La La Land

If Ryan Gosling is going to be part of your cast, you might as well include his best collaborator, Emma Stone. Stone and Gosling have starred in three films together and shown effortless chemistry and would make a perfect pair in a heist film.

Stone herself is one of the biggest movie stars working today. She can switch between drama and comedy without missing a beat and is always extremely charming on screen. That kind of extremely likable yet superbly talented actor is what a cast like this needs.

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong’o is quickly becoming one of the most interesting movie stars working today. She came on the scene with her heartbreaking and brilliant Oscar-winning performance in 12 Years a Slave, has joined massive franchises like Star Wars and Black Panther, and she takes on daring roles such as in Us.

Nyong’o is a charismatic lead but also stands out in ensemble films. We could easily see her as the team’s master of disguise, making full use of her versatility. It would also be nice to see her given some comedic moments in this kind of lighter film.

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke as Daenerys in Game of Thrones season 8

As Game of Thrones comes to an end, the show’s massive cast needs to find out what the future holds. While there are many of the show’s cast members who could join the next Ocean’s film, Emilia Clarke (aka Daenerys Targaryen) seems like the best fit.

On Game of Thrones, Clarke has shown on several occasions that she can easily play the cool badass. But Clarke herself has shown to have a great sense of humor, so maybe she could play the high-strung tech-wise for the heist as a nice change of pace for her.

Kumail Nanjiani

Along with all the ultra cool actors necessary for an Ocean’s film, they also need a solid dose of humor. One of the most exciting comedic actors working today is Kumail Nanjiani. After getting acclaim for his role on Silicon Valley, Nanjiani became a star with The Big Sick. Since then, Hollywood has been fighting over him.

Nanjiani could bring his signature dry wit to the role in this film. We could picture him as the sarcastic and pessimistic member of the team and the film’s comedic relief.

Daniel Kaluuya

W'Kabi inside Wakanda palace in Black Panther

Daniel Kaluuya is destined to be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood any day now. In just one year, he starred in his Oscar nominated role in Get Out as a man we were all cheering for, then followed it up playing a cold-blooded villain in Widows. Now that’s range.

Kaluuya is a compelling performer and it would be great for him to have some fun as the suave con man in this cast. The role might serve as a good audition tape should he ever be interested in playing Bond.

Patrick Stewart

The Ocean’s cast, while filled with today’s biggest stars, also need the addition of a veteran to help add some gravitas to the whole affair. Who better than Patrick Stewart?

Stewart has obviously been involved in some of the most iconic pop culture franchises of all-time, but he’s a joy to see on screen no matter what. He is an extremely classy and sophisticated performer who feels like a great choice for the team’s wise and experienced mentor. But, as anyone who has seen Green Room can attest, he could also be a brilliant villain.

Meryl Streep

When you’re talking about the biggest name’s in Hollywood, you simply must include Meryl Streep. For decades, Streep was continuously been turning in amazing performances as evidenced by her stunning 21 Oscar nominations (including 3 wins). To leave her out of this cast would be a missed opportunity.

As likable of a star as Streep is, we think she would be most interesting as the film’s villain. With a star of her magnitude, it seems only right that all these other A-listers would have to come together to take her on. Streep would no doubt have a great time with the role and probably snag a few awards for it at the same time.
