10 Most Fun Maps In Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection

10 Most Fun Maps In Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection

There are more than 40 maps in the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, but some are undeniably more enjoyable than others. Many of the maps are direct recreations of iconic locations from the prequel and original trilogies, such as Endor, Dagobah, and Mustafar. While the Classic Collection has received bad reviews due to its poor optimization, some maps offer a great time for the players who can actually load into them.

Most of the maps in the Battlefront 1 and 2 remakes were slightly enhanced and ported over from the original games, but the new maps in the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection are some of the best ones available. Although the minute improvements still leave the graphics and mechanics of both games feeling largely outdated, great multiplayer maps will never go out of style. With so many maps to choose from, a select few give players a chance to relive famous Star Wars battles while carving new ones in the history book.

The Hoth: Echo Base In Battlefront 2 Is A Blast

Echo Base Under Siege

A player running towards an AT-AT at Hoth: Echo Base in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

It stands to reason that one of the most fun maps in the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection comes from one of the best Star Wars movies, The Empire Strikes Back. The Battle of Hoth took place in the year 3 ABY, and resulted in Luke Skywalker’s departure to Dagobah and the Rebels retreated after suffering heavy losses. The Hoth: Echo Base map is massive in scale, featuring an indoor section of Echo Base and outdoor battles in AT-ATs and T-47s, Hoth’s famous airspeeders.

The only difference between the Hoth: Echo Base map in both Battlefront and Battlefront 2 is a collapsed tunnel heading towards the Shield Generator in the latter; otherwise, it is almost identical but with improved graphics. Most of the combat is medium to long range, as the vast majority of the map is out in the snow. Hoth: Echo Base delivers exciting vehicles and thrilling objectives, making it one of the most fun Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection maps.

The Naboo: Theed Map Is The Best Spot On Naboo

Urban Warfare On Naboo

Two clones standing in the street of Theed on Naboo in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

Naboo is most heavily featured in The Phantom Menace, which is canonically the first Star Wars movie and far from the franchise’s most beloved entry. The planet is most famous for being home to Senator Padmé Amidala, one of the bright spots in the prequel trilogy. Theed is also home to the second mission in Battlefront‘s Clone Wars Campaign, so those who play single-player first can familiarize themselves with the map before jumping in to PvP.

Similar to Hoth: Echo Base and other of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection‘s best maps, Naboo: Theed has been redone for both Battlefront and Battlefront 2. The majority of fighting on this map is close-quarters in the streets and between buildings, often battling right beside tanks in the street. There is also very little cover in most of the combat-heavy locations, so those who venture into the streets of Theed on Naboo had better be ready to make every shot count or pay the price.

Rhen Var: The Citadel Is A New Addition

A New Frontier

Rhen Var may not be a common Star Wars location, but it is home to several of the best maps in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. Not much is known about the planet Rhen Var in Star Wars canon aside from it being the home of the Great Sith War roughly 4,000 years before the fall of the Republic. Rhen Var’s Citadel map sits at the very top of a snowy mountain, with small buildings and cover to duck and weave in and out of.

The Rhen Var: Citadel map in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection may be the most well-rounded map in both games due to how immaculately balanced it is across the board. It’s far from the biggest or the smallest map, and there are plenty of spots for close-quarter combat as well as sniper perches and major discrepancies in terrain for cover. The different game modes that can be played on Rhen Var: Citadel are Capture the Flag, Conquest, and Hero Assault, with characters like Kit Fisto, Darth Maul, and more joining the fight.

One Of Star Wars’ Most Famous Fights Happened At Endor: Bunker

Ewoks Vs. Empire

An AT-ST shooting at Endor troopers on Endor: Bunker in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

The battle that ended the first major war in the Star Wars universe, the Battle of Endor, also happens to be the basis of one of the Classic Collection‘s best maps. It was originally thought that Emperor Palpatine, the Sith Lord behind all the evil plans, died during the battle of Endor – that is until he “somehow returned” in The Rise of Skywalker. Endor is also home to some of the cutest creatures in the Star Wars universe, the Ewoks.

Set in the deep forest with a bunker surrounded by logs and trees, Endor’s Bunker map contains more cover and places to hide than any other map in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. The Ewoks will actually assist the Rebels in taking down the Empire, including but not limited to using their famous log traps to take out larger machinery. There are also the two-legged AT-ST’s, Laser Turrets, and nine of Endor’s iconic Speeder Bikes to zoom around the map.

A Famous Jedi Died In Mygeeto’s War Torn City

A Jedi’s Final Stand

Unlike many of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection‘s great maps, which are directly based on locations that feature heavily in the Star Wars films, Mygeeto is only featured for about 15 seconds. This is the planet where Ki-Adi-Mundi’s clone troopers turned on him during Order 66. Fortunately, the lack of lore for Mygeeto: War Torn City doesn’t make the map any less fun.

The majority of combat takes place over long distances, aside from the brief but intense moments of taking a Command Post out of enemy control. This map is also the central location for the first mission in the Rise of the Empire campaign, where, similar to Theed, players can gain some experience before jumping into PvP. There are almost twenty playable characters in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, some better options than others, but this map features Mundi, Luke Skywalker, General Grievous, and Boba Fett.

5
Rhen Var: Harbor Is Just As Great As Citadel

Industrial Warfare

Although Rhen Var isn’t a common location in Star Wars films or television, both the Harbor and Citadel maps are prominent locations in the Battlefront campaign. While the Citadel map is in the Galactic Civil War campaign, and Harbor is in the adjacent Clone Wars campaign, both of Rhen Var’s maps are two of the very best the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has to offer.

What makes Rhen Var: Harbor great is the versatility of play styles the map allows with its terrain and layout. There are buildings that are well-spaced out, with room for close-quarter combat, making all manner of weapons effective in the right spots. Rhen Var’s Harbor and Citadel maps are featured in both Battlefront games, but much more pleasant to play in Battlefront 2.

4
Mustafar: Refinery Is Packed With Iconic Locations

Molten Mayhem

An overhead shot of Mustafar: Refinery in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

Mustafar is one of the coolest planets in the Star Wars universe; it’s home to one of its most famous duels and also Darth Vader’s base of operations. The Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection leans into the greatness of Anakin and Obi-Wan’s duel by making all the locations of their fight playable areas.

For those who enjoy the prequels, playing on Mustafar’s Refinery map is a treasured experience. There are some long corridors and overlooks in which sniper rifles can be effective, but most of the combat takes places in close-quarter areas where players must make quick decisions. Playable heroes on this map include Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Darth Maul, with the two main modes being Conquest and Capture the Flag.

3
Luke Skywalker Became A Jedi In The Dagobah Swamps

A Jedi’s Training Ground

An overhead shot of Dagobah: Swamps in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

Master Yoda has been in so many Star Wars projects through the years, it can be easy to forget his very first appearance was as Luke Skywalker’s master in The Empire Strikes Back. Yoda removed Dagobah from the Jedi archives and fled to the planet’s swamps after failing to defeat Palpatine, knowing it was a safe spot to hide. For players that enjoy a true challenge, Dagobah is the perfect map in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection.

One of the map’s more frustrating elements is that the AI can see through even the most dense fog, but players cannot. On top of this, these same computer characters also wear outfits that blend seamlessly into the swampy environment. The heroes available include Yoda, Darth Vader, and General Grievous, and while victory doesn’t come easy, there is perhaps nothing more satisfying and rewarding than overcoming the challenge of claiming a win on Dagobah.

2
Kamino: Cloning Facility Is One Of Battlefront’s Best Maps

Birthplace Of An Army

Tw clones running outside in the rain on Kamino: Cloning Facility in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

First featured in the prequel trilogy as the home of the Clones, and more recently in The Bad Batch, is the planet Kamino. This is the planet, mostly covered in water, that Obi-Wan visits in Attack of the Clones and finds Jango Fett and a young Boba Fett, along with the Kaminoan cloners. Regardless of play style, Kamino’s cloning facility in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is a map that offers a little something for snipers, close-range combat, and heroes.

The map is split into two main areas: inside the cloning facility, and outside on the platforms in the rainstorm. This map can also be explored in the “Kamino – Changing of the Guard” campaign mission and has plenty of sniper posts scattered around the map, incentivizing constant movement. Playable characters include Jango and Boba Fett, as well as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Han Solo.

Bespin: Cloud City Is Visually Stunning

Soaring Cityscapes

A full shot of Bespin: Cloud City in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

There are two Bespin maps in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, Platforms and Cloud City, but the latter is far superior. Most will know Bespin as the location in The Empire Strikes Back where Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca meet up with Lando Calrissian. Of all the maps in the Classic Collection, Bespin: Cloud City may be the best and features the iconic Carbonite Chamber.

Naturally, there are no vehicles on this map, but there are turrets strategically placed to keep enemies from staying stagnant. The map is full of skyscrapers, bridges, command posts, and other structures which provide cover and opportunity for potential ambushes. The only heroes available in both BF1 and BF2 are Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, with others such as Count Dooku and Asaaj Ventress filling out the roster in their respective games.

For any game that has as many maps as Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, there are going to be some hits and some duds. The game has unfortunately had a plethora of performance issues preventing players from loading into games, tarnishing the joy of many great maps. If Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection can upgrade and improve its servers to withstand a larger player base, there is a future for more people to enjoy these awesome maps.
