10 MCU Movies & Series Vision Could Return In After Paul Bettany Confirmed He’ll Be Back

Following confirmation that the character will appear again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are some exciting possibilities for Vision‘s live-action future. Paul Bettany is one of the MCU’s longest-running actors, debuting as the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. in 2008’s Iron Man. It was not until 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron that Bettany would start playing the powerful MCU hero known as Vision, with the sentient android being created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner with J.A.R.V.I.S.’ code, though his body was first built by the movie’s villain, Ultron.

After years of playing a supporting role in the MCU, Vision was killed in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War then returned in 2021’s WandaVision. The series brought a version of Vision created by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, with the body of the deceased hero being rebuilt, resulting in the birth of White Vision. At the end of WandaVision, White Vision recovered his memories, setting off on an adventure on his own. Now, Bettany has confirmed he will return as Vision, and that could mean exciting things for the character.

10 White Vision’s Most Likely Return Is In Vision Quest

Reported To Be In Development

While not yet officially announced by Marvel Studios, Disney+’s Vision Quest has been reported to be in development. The project would center around Bettany’s White Vision. The series was described as being about “Vision trying to regain his memory and humanity,” with an appearance from Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch — who seemingly died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — being possible. Bettany’s confirmation could be about Vision Quest, the first solo project for his MCU hero, which would make sense.

9 Agatha: Darkhold Diaries Could See Vision Return In The First WandaVision Spinoff

Announced By Marvel Studios

While Vision Quest is in the works, the first spinoff from WandaVision to arrive will be Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. The series will follow Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness, who will discover she was manipulated by Wanda Maximoff into believing she was her nosy neighbor Agnes persona. Marvel’s Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is rumored to include one of Wanda and Vision’s sons, Billy — played by Joe Locke — which makes the project perfect for Bettany to return as White Vision. The Hex version of Vision could also appear through Billy’s powers if he is truly in the series.

8 Vision Could Follow Wanda And Appear In Doctor Strange 3

Reported To Be In Development

Coming off WandaVision, Olsen’s Scarlet Witch was the main villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Bettany’s White Vision could do the exact opposite, appearing in Doctor Strange 3 to serve as an ally to Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer. With the movie reported to be in development, Doctor Strange 3‘s story should revolve around Strange and Charlize Theron’s Clea stopping an incursion, and heroes like Vision could show up to help the duo in their multiverse-saving efforts. A variant of the original Vision could also show up with the multiverse in play.

7 Vision’s Comic Book History Could Be Explored In Wonder Man

Confirmed But Not Announced By Marvel Studios

Marvel’s Wonder Man series is currently filming, even though the studio has yet to officially announce the project. Aquaman‘s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play the MCU’s version of Simon Williams, the actor-turned-superhero Wonder Man. Vision and Wonder Man share a history in Marvel Comics, with the android being programmed in the comics based on Williams’ brain patterns. In a similar story to the MCU, Wonder Man dated the Scarlet Witch when Vision lost his memories. As such, White Vision and the Scarlet Witch could appear in Wonder Man.

6 Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Could See White Vision And Vision Return

Announced By Marvel Studios

Vision became a member of the MCU’s Avengers, and Bettany’s White Vision could follow suit. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will see a new version of the MCU’s premiere team assemble, and if White Vision already has control of his memories by then, the character would be a powerful ally for the Avengers in the fight against the Council of Kangs. With Kang the Conqueror and his variants mastering time and the multiverse, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty could include time travel elements, giving a chance for Bettany to also appear as the original Vision in the film.

5 The Rumored Young Avengers Project Is Perfect For Bettany’s White Vision

Teased By The Marvels

With his memories recovered and the character balanced once again, White Vision could serve as a mentor to the MCU’s Young Avengers. After Marvel introduced several potential young heroes in the MCU in the past few years, The Marvels saw Ms. Marvel recruit Kate Bishop to her team — the Young Avengers — and mention Cassie Lang as another possible member. In the comics, Vision and Wanda’s twin sons — Tommy/Speed and Billy/Wiccan — are members of the Young Avengers, and if the MCU goes that route, Vision would fit in seamlessly as the team’s Avengers liaison.

4 A Scarlet Witch Movie Would Need To Include Vision

Not Confirmed

There have been rumblings about Olsen returning for a solo Scarlet Witch movie. While Wanda Maximoff is currently dead in the MCU, there is very little chance that it will stick, as Olsen is open to doing more with the character, and the Scarlet Witch has become one of Marvel Studios’ most popular characters since the release of WandaVision. If Olsen gets her Scarlet Witch movie, Bettany’s Vision would need to be there to reunite with her, even if he plays a supporting role or only appears as a cameo towards the end.

3 White Vision Could Assemble The West Coast Avengers

Not Confirmed

West Coast Avengers and Moon Knight

In his newfound search for purpose after obtaining the memories of the original Vision, Bettany’s White Vision could go after a team of his own. Instead of rejoining the Avengers, White Vision could help create a separate branch of the team — the West Coast Avengers. Several members of the comic book team are present in the MCU or will soon be introduced, including Hawkeye, Moon Knight, War Machine, Wonder Man, and more. Vision was the one who suggested that Hawkeye should create the team in the comics. So, the duo could birth the West Coast Avengers in the MCU.

2 Avengers: Secret Wars Can Have Multiple Vision Variants Come Together

Announced By Marvel Studios

Avengers: Secret Wars will be the culmination of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. The movie is expected to feature the returns of actors from all over Marvel’s live-action history, not just the MCU. That makes Bettany’s appearance as Vision or White Vision in the film an easy guess. However, Avengers: Secret Wars could go a step beyond and have both versions of the character appear. While White Vision could go on to live life on his own in the MCU, the Vision of a different universe could come face-to-face with Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, with the duo ending together.

1 Vision Could Honor His Origin In Armor Wars

Announced By Marvel Studios

Marvel's Armor Wars logo

Armor Wars will focus on War Machine trying to save Tony Stark’s legacy after Stark Tech falls in the wrong hands — rumored to be that of Justin Hammer. Given how the original Vision was made sentient by Iron Man with Bruce Banner’s help, as well as the J.A.R.V.I.S. software Tony created giving Vision his knowledge and personality, it would make sense for the character to help Rhodey. While Bettany’s Vision will return to the MCU, it remains to be seen how many projects the hero will be involved in.
